Default I bought $52.00 worth of fresh fruits and vegetables this AM!

To support my local Farmer's Market place, Long Acre Farms!

And I just got my batch of freshly cooked brown rice in my refrigerator too! Into a 1980 Tupperware container my Ex wife and I bought at Malwart, back in our daze!

After every use, twice with hot soapy dishwater and a Pink Scrubee and I soak it in bleach water too! So it LOOKS cleaner and is sanitized before use again.

All that cleaning? Not really. A bit overkill, don't you thinK?
I hand wash all my old Tupperware in hot soapy water once then rinse in
hot water. Done and clean. Set on the rack to air dry.

You're not going to find much local fresh fruit or vegetables in
mid-December from your local farmer's market in Saint Louis.

Most will be imported from other states or countries. This is the time
of year that I buy at grocery stores.

Got some great Mangoes and other fruits and veggies!

Long Acre Farms has been in the STL produce for 43 years! And they are good, man!

If you've had temps in the 30's chances are those mangoes came from
another state.

Probably another country. When we visted Puerto Rico in 2017, mangoes
were everwhere except the grocery stores. Who'd buy them when the trees
drop them for free?

Yes, St. Louis is a famous mango growing area.

Looking at pictures of their establishment, I see they buy produce
the same way every grocery store in your area does. Foxy brand celery,
out of season berries in plastic boxes, bananas, "baby" carrots.

Sure, they have local produce when it's in season. What's in season
now? Parsnips?

He's so gullible. The only thing "local" about it is the location.
Just because the name of the place contains the word "Farms" doesn't
mean they don't buy produce from other sources, especially when it comes
to tropical fruit. I suppose if they had pineapples in stock he'd
assume those were locally grown, too.

On the other hand, there's nothing wrong with supporting a local business.

Yes, kale, in particular, is a good winter crop. Carrots and leeks, too.
