Any winos here?

When friends ask for food-wine pairings, I always
recommend Riesling, the universal grape. But I'm not
sure - are there dishes where this is inappropriate?

I drink the wine I feel like. I don't adapt the wine to the dish.
Nothing wrong with red wine with fish IMO.

And if you want to get back into the more beaten path, Riesling is a white wine (traditionally taken with seafood/poultry, as opposed to Gewürztraminer, a red wine which you would drink with steak/roast beef).

Gewurtztrminer is a red wine? That comment puts you right up there
with RichD as a person who has no business recommending any wine.
