The numbers are incredible and that is just for Costco. Many other

We SHOULD be making meat from animal meat stem cells, which when allowed to in a sterile environment can grow meat only!

Geez, and I'm old enough to remember that if we wanted chicken, we'd go out to the henhouse and then it was "chop - chop"... ;-)

Few if any rural peeps where I grew up raise chickens anymore...but one of my work comrades has about a dozen chickens and ducks for eggs, and they are also pets...it is not really "cost - effective" for them, it is more of a hobby thing...

The local Mariano's (owned by Kroger) always has the two for ten bucks rotisserie chicken deal, they are a staple for me...just cutting up a couple now for use in next week's work lunches...

My mother (who grew up in the Detroit suburbs) remembers her grandmother
killing chickens in her back yard. We bought our food at the grocery store.

$4.99 roasted chicken, $1.50 hot dog & drink, toilet paper: it's the foundation upon which Costco has built its business upon. It's kind of amazing.

There used to be live chicken markets all over NYC... my grandmother
would bring me as a toddler, she'd pick out which chickens she wanted
and they were taken in back to be Killed and cleaned.... I hated going
because of the schtink.... could be why to this day I'm not all that
fond of poultry.

Grandparents lived on a farm and when they wanted chicken or we were there
for the week-end there'd be chicken on the table. But I never saw the
process of getting that bird from the yard to the table.

I doubt she read beyond the title. The article was really about being
their own supplier and the way they and perhaps others in the future
are approaching their animal meat supply.
It was a given she (they) wouldn't like it. Her palate is DOA and she
cues others how to respond to the food in her house. IMO

Think about it. She is such a pathetically warped person that she gives
us so much opportunity to feel better about ourselves. I look back a
couple years ago when I was dumping on her and then people would dump on
me for being nasty to her. Now most of those people have clued into what
a mess she is and are dumping on her as much as I did.

My guess is that Costco has a shitload of bagged chicken in the back. You can get a double bag of some of that chicken in the meat case. They're great looking birds - better than the stuff that's in my local supermarkets. I believe they go for about $10 for two. That's damn cheap!

My friend asked me if I wanted to buy some huli-huli chicken for the Knights of Columbus fundraiser. It's 4 half pieces of chicken for $25. The chickens are kind of small ones - about half the size of Costco's. It it was anybody else, I'd say "no thanks!" but she's a old friend of my dad and anyway, it goes to help support some weird old dudes that like to dress up like they was in some G&S opera. I believe that to be a fine and noble cause!
