Lunch for today
 

It's hot out, so simple cold food is called for. Tokay Salami, (type of Hungarian
Salami) hot Mexican Salami, and Veal Bologna(It looks like Mortadella, without the pieces of fat), tastes different from regular store bought Bologna, better in my opinion. Kaiser rolls, home made potato salad, and dill pickles.

Your lunch sounds delicious.

It's 71 F (21.7 C) in, so it might be lentil soup with spinach. I'll just
have to see what I can scrounge up when I go home.

You and I aren't likely to get much sympathy over out heat wave. It is
currently 81 F here and heading to 88 F. It is close to our melting
temperature, but would probably be considered cool by our southern
neighbours.

I'm not that far south of you. Today will be 90 F with a heat index of 103.
Tomorrow will be 96 with a heat index of 111.

LOL Dave. It's currently around 87F here at 11:20AM. It will reach 95F
by the afternoon. The humidity is also very high.

Having said that, hot weather doesn't make me want to eat cold food. Go
figure. :)

Thanks for the reminder, Cindy! I have a bag of lentils in the pantry
and frozen chopped spinach in the freezer. Lentil soup is on my to-do list.

I don't let outdoor temps define what I eat. I made a pot of spicy five
bean soup with barley in the crock pot yesterday. I made broccoli
cheese soup last week. Summertime doesn't preclude enjoying hot
meals/soup. There's nothing stopping anyone from having a nice crisp
cold salad to go along with it. ;)

It's gonna be hot, Joan. Tennessee to South Carolina and all points
north and east and west and south. It's called Summer. ;)

It sometimes still hits the 70's at night but it's not cool. The
humidity sucks. No opening the windows and just running fans, nope.
Doesn't stop me from making soup for dinner. :)

I'm making chicken soup for lunch. It's relatively cold out -- low
60s at noon and started the day in the low 50s. We are promised 90s
by Sun or Mon.

Seems to be hot everywhere but here! Yesterday's storm knocked of a green
tomato. Grr..

I'm probably not going to cook except perhaps for some lentils. Maybe some
beans, for another day. Still have leftover plain rice, rice pilaf, stew and
one pork chop.

67 here. This is how our summers used to be. This is why I don't have AC. I
think we only had two days so far where I might have wanted it, but they
were isolated so it wasn't like a big build up of heat in the house.

It has a texture similar to many salamis; it's just quite hot. And I've never had chorizo, so I can't make a comparison. Think Italian Salami with heat.
