Some people are terrified of rats and mice. My mother would have freaked. She had qualms about coming into our house when I had pet (white) rats. If I had been there I probably would have picked him up. While I was at university I looked after the animals in the psychology lab. We went through thousands of rats, using them for training and for neurological studies. We occasionally had more rats that we could accommodate and I would take some home for pets or give them to friends. They make great pets. They are smart and very friendly. |

Wouldn't wild and/or sewer rats be more likely to have plague-carrying fleas? Or the
Hanta virus? If I ever saw one of those, I would stay far, far away. The pet ones may be very smart and enjoyable, but I think they are creepy. I don't scream or run or have any extreme reaction; I just don't want them to be where I am. I love cats and dogs; just not rodents so much. N. |

You also don't expect to see a guy shooting an elephant on TV. Also strange was that the guy was using an archaic Winchester repeating rifle to kill the beast. The whole scene traumatized the state. The worst thing was that it must have taken a while to kill the elephant. It's a horrible thing to kill an animal by repeatedly shooting it. The job took 86 bullets. |
