You missed the point. Wealthy people don't carry a credit card balance. I charge everything I can on my three credit cards and I have almost a million airline miles banked between them. When the payment is due, they are on auto-pay for the full statement balance so I don't have to write any checks. |

Starbucks UK didn't have to pay taxes over profit made on their recipes. That's tax exempt there. No taxes paid. Just an example. |

Congress members will never close loopholes because they are in debt to the lobbyists who
contributed to their election. I will say again: campaigns...ALL campaigns...should be limited to six weeks' duration, and a total budget of $50,000. That would fix a lot of ills. N. |

I've got some older friends that I can't convince to set up their bills either as auto- pay or at least pay them online. Saves postage and saves a trip to the post office. Even if you put your bills in your mailbox for the postal person to pick up it still saves time. Never a worry about your payment getting lost in the mail or making sure you mail it off 7-10 days before it's due to make sure it gets there in time to avoid a penalty. |

My company doesn't have a receptionist anymore, and neither did my husband's (before he retired). You can get a directory of employee extensions, but if you've called in and just want "support" or "sales" I think you're screwed. It's better to try to reach us by e-mail (where you can reach "support" or "sales"). That works well for most of our customer base, who are all engineers. Cindy Hamilton |

No need to type in a URL every time you want to pay a bill. You can add that company to your list of billers on your checking account. When you want to pay the bill, just log into your checking account, click the billers name, fill in how much you want to pay and when, click pay, and done. I don't need a bill snail mailed to me either; I can opt for them to send me a bill online. No extra paper to have to shuffle through, making sure my name and address are shredded and then having to throw away. I've been on autopay with my utility companies for 20+ years and never once, not one single time have I ever encountered a problem. That autopay can be stopped with a single click. However, my utility companies still send me the bill, for my records, each month. Each bill also plainly states "Do Not Pay, $XX.XX Will Be Automatically Drafted on ______________." (Fill in the date for whichever bill it is.) Haven't you proclaimed to be some sort of computer whiz here in the past?? I guess your statement above just shot that fairytale in the foot. |

Itsjoan, you,can always ask to speak to someone whose first language is English. I have
done that several times. Also, as soon as the voice mail tree starts, I start pressing zero. If the voice wants to know what the call is about, I just say "Agent," or "Representative," repeatedly until it gets a live person. (On another topic, the half hour flood DVD is the one on which the American Experience hour-long was based. It is worth the money to me. Also, the whole David McCullough program is on YouTube, and I have a friend who has put it on a DVD for me. ;-)) N. |

It will be just like talking to a human. My guess is that the company you're calling will know who they're dealing with and will customize the interaction to suit your style. I have my dental insurance premium charged to my Bass Pro Shop card then I've got that card set up automatically to be paid each month. It's a rewards card that I'm racking up points on. |

I've taken my dental insurance company to the cleaners with all of the crowns, bridges, and implants I've had over the years. Helps that it's subsidized by my employer. And, yes. When they were handing out the genes for good teeth, I was standing in the line for curly hair. Cindy Hamilton |

Cindy, I am right there with you. LOL. Including the curly hair. My insurance has already paid
in 2019 more in benefits than my annual premium (also subsidized by pre-retirement employer). I have outlived my body, including my teeth. ;-)) N. |

I wish I heard that message but it seems like you've ruined it for me forever. I read about one that made me laugh. "Hi, this is Bill and I'm at home. In a moment I'll hear your voice then I'll have a decision to make." |

Yep. That's why I went to college and got a degree in a STEM field. So I could make a decent salary with benefits on top, and my employer can take all of the risk and deal with all of the headaches.
