My parents always had a garden and as much as I disliked having to work in it I felt compelled to have one in when I bought my house. That only lasted a few years. I had an acre of lawn to mow and a lot of other things to maintain the house, so having to spend at least half an hour every day tending the garden was just and extra unwanted chore. if I went away for the weekend I would come back to garden overrun with weeds. Then the critters would eat my produce. When the veggies were finally ready to harvest they were dirt cheap at local farmer's stands. > > Even with no garden, we usually had two or three tomato plants.Â* You > just cannot beat a fresh from the garden tomato.Â* Even the ones from the > farmer's market are not as good. A pot or two of herbs is easy too. Cherry tomatoes, some beefsteaks, sage, thyme, oregano, basil, parsley and cilantro. That is as much gardening I care to do. |

At that time of day everything is quiet and the smells are fresh. I dread getting too old to be able to do that. Janet US |
