Default Happy Christmas to all in RFC!

I hope everyone has a nice one today.

Sadly, not me though....I'm hurt. Severe lower back/leg pain
(sciatica). Started Saturday night and I've had very little sleep
since then. Can NOT lay down at all only sit up at a certain
angle. It's the upper leg pain that just cannot be ignored. I
would say it's the worse I ever had but then it's been about 25
years since I last had this. It might have been that bad then too
but I just forgot.

Anyway, I feel like I should dig out my birth certificate and see
if it came with an expiration date. Like born 1953 - best used by
2018. (?)

My Christmas day plans are to take many hot showers mainly
directed onto the affected area. I'll just cook a series of side
dishes to keep my standing time to a minimum. First 2 mini-meals
will be some hot chicken soup, then half of a sweet potato (with
butter and S&P).

Good thing I didn't make any big plans. Well alright...move
along, nothing to see here.

Enjoy your day all. :-D

I'm really sorry to hear this Gary, I hope for a quick seige of it for you
since it is just awful. Take it easy. My son says Doan's back pills help him
at times.

Remember when you apply heat, or ice, 10 minutes max - after that time
the blood system goes to emergency and undoes all the comfort you
received.

Have you tried Advil or Tylenol? They really do give relief, I don't
take meds but when like you, I'll pop an Advil.

Good luck - my work is over, just finished clearing up the party room
downstairs, now I can relax and a great grandson is picking me up to
go for turkey dinner at his parents, my eldest grandson and his wife.
It will be beautifully cooked, she's great, and I'll never let on that
I don't care for turkey I'm glad for the ride because they just
changed our laws so that the police do not have to have justification
for asking you to do the breathalizer! They also apparently carry a
test for cannabis/drugs.

Be well - I have to say - what a comfort a little ferret would be...

I'm sorry to hear that Gary. Suggestion to make it best? Roll a thin
blanket so it supports the arch of your back and then ramp pillows so
you are at whatever degree works for you best.

You can also pour rice into tube socks and put them in the microwave
for a minute or 2 and use them as heating pads.

I hope you feel well soon!

A couple of Advil liqui-gels minis first thing in the morning about an
hour before getting out of bed for the day... best to rest so they can
do their magic. I keep them in my night stand and I have my bottle of
water handy. At mid day take one more, then two at bedtime. They
work best when kept in your system. You really should see a neuro
doctor and have an MRI. Usually there are epidural shots that can
make the pain go away entirely for at least a few years My first
epidural lasted 7 years, The second lasted 3 years. I'm due or
another, in fact I have an appointment in January.
Good luck.

I thought my severe leg pain was sciatica or from my chronic back problems...but it was eventually
diagnosed as an inflamed SI joint (sacroiliac). A steroid injection quickly set it right.

You have nothing to lose by finding out from an orthopedic specialist.

I had probs with "sciatica" in my late 20s. Finally disappeared after
eight mos of agony. Once I was up or down, I was OK. It was getting
between the two that nearly killed me.

I later read that men's "fat" wallets and putting them in yer back
pocket were to blame (lopsided). I've seen men's wallets get as large
as 2 inches thick. I don't know if that is true or not, but I keep mine
thin as Hell (one quarter inch) and rarely put it in my back pocket.
Never had sciatica since.

Regardless, aside from the pain, I hope you had a nice Christmas

Sorry about the pain. The first thing you should do is get rid of that fat wallet. I got me some cargo pants and it's a great relief not to have to sit on that fattie. I keep my wallet and keys in the lower pocket. I highly recommend these pants. That is, if you can handle being such a cool dude, of course.

Without a doubt, he is one cool dude. Incidentally, he's also a guy's guy. You're just going to have to accept that.

I started carrying two wallets, just to balance the load. One has cash
and my drivers license (and insurance card, and registration) and the other
has my cards.
