I just made myself the most amazing Standard Meal Plus! :-)

I make myself a dinner I call my Standard Meal, composed of a ground beef pattie, a nuked potato and green veggies (broccoli, green beans, asparagus, etc) and while I always cook the ground beef pattie and spice it while I cook it, I've been making ground beef patties with chopped portobello, some dried onion, ground black pepper, a little garlic powder, worcestershire, red wine, BBQ sauce, and an egg yolk to keep it together. Mix by hand well, wrap in foil packs as patties and freeze.

So I thawed one out and cooked it in a pan slowly, nuked a Yukon Gold potato with shredded cheese and some "nuked in a glass bowl with a little water, drained after cooking" broccoli, asparagus, and some mushroom/spinach stuffs I've been cooking up and keeping in the fridge.

YUM! :-)

Now dessert! :-)

That patty sounds good. Have you tried Jill's Chinese burger? It has

Nope, but it sounds interesting. Authentic Chinese or United Statesianed Chinese Food?? I don't have any Chinese housemates at present to ask about the authenticity.

And my Portabella Burger was so YUGE I only ate 1/2 last evening and have another 1/2 for today! Plus I have three more of them in my freezer!

And my Mushroom/Spinach Stuffs makes a good addition to any veggies, and other things as well or can be eaten solo! Mushroomy and YUM!

location for Jill's Chinese burger?

MaryL

===

Jill's Chinese Hamburgers

1 lb. ground beef
1/4 c. mushrooms (I use my own dried and reconstituted)
1 egg
2 Tbs. cornstarch

"sauce"
3 Tbs. soy sauce
1 Tbs. sherry
1/4 tsp. salt
dash of MSG
1 tsp. sugar
1 clove minced garlic

==

I just mix it all in very well and add the cornstarch at the end until I am
able to handle it and make the burgers. I then put them in the fridge for a
wee while.

Wow! Amazingly similar to what I just made 4 of, but I do not put soy sauce in, but Worcestershire, red wine and BBQ sauce, smoky. Plus a huge portabella cap minced, 2 tsps of dried onions, some dried basil. freshly ground black pepper, a little sweet paprika, garlic granules, and 3 egg yolks!

Pattied nicely up in foil packets and in the freezer!

My original recipe (which wasn't mine at all, it was something Mom got
when we lived in Bangkok) did include diced water chestnuts!

Ahh that is probably me that took them out. When I copy a recipe I take out
what I don't like :)

Sorry, but I didn't expect to be copying it he))

I don't only do it with your recipe, if I get one with the
flavourings/herbs/spices we don't like I leave those out too:))

It doesn't seem to spoil the flavours:))

I understand completely! I leave things out when I try a recipe and
know I don't like whatever, too. It's the basic premise of the recipe
that matters. And how it tastes.

I didn't notice when you re-posted it (thanks!) you'd left out the water
chestnuts. To me, they add a bit of oomph to the burger. But hey,
prepare them any way you like. :) It's liking the end result that matters.

Poor John. Apparently he is ignorant of the other European nations like
Belgium and Germany who make those nasty English colonialists look like
saints. I guess the Japanese don't count in his world of white shame.
When they decided to boot out the European colonial powers and establish
their own empire they did not stop at oppressive labour practices. They
simply enslaved millions of people... those that were not slaughtered.
