During the week I'll either record a show or even pause it to go do a chore and then I can zip through all those commercials when I resume the program. Last week I had recorded a program about art on the BBC America channel. During the whole program there were tidbits of news stories crawling along the bottom of the screen. One was a tax on tampons in India had been withdrawn due to strong protests. Made me wonder who thought such a tax was a great idea in the first place. |

Yes, I record the PBS cooking shows on Saturdays, and also there is a cooking show on every weekday at 1:30 on PBS which I record. I usually watch them when dh is fishing or doing yard work etc. I get up very early so sometimes will watch one then. I didn't think I would like a DVR and hated to give up the VCR, but now the VCR seems sort of ridiculous with those tapes etc. I do have a DVD that plays VCR tapes though. With all the streaming going on I imagine DVD's will be old fashioned soon. :) Cheri |

Several years ago there was an ongoing fire not too far from here in NC. Any SW wind blew all the smoke here. It was horrible. Even looked like fog when it got real bad. It lasted for 2-3 months. Anyway, once I finish work and minor shopping, I like to stay inside and I do watch lots of TV. I pay enough for it so I want to get my money's worth....and I do. I always used to live at the beach in my spare time but I'm older now and very content to stay inside at night. I read, watch tv, do internet....then eat and sleep. It works for me. :) For some strange reason though, I do cherish living so close to the ocean. It's the edge of a vast wilderness. :-D |

Good for him. Pets become family and should be kept for life if at all possible. I've seen some people that will ditch their old pets just for convenience. I've done hospice care for 3 ferrets and a few cats. once they enter their last year or so, it's a pain to take care of them and requires much more time. I've known a few that have them put to sleep too early because "they are suffering." Sometimes, it's the caregiver that is suffering and just wants them gone. My parents always had an offer of...if things go bad, you always have a place to stay with us. That always gave me peace of mind and an extreme option. About 12 years ago, my business was failing and I was worried about things. Again, I was told...you can always come here if you need to. That time though, they added...but no ferrets here. Well, that immediately ended my extreme backup plan. No way would I ditch my kids. If it had come to that, I would have bought a tent with my last dollars and camped in the woods with my ferrets. heheh Luckily, I got myself out of that mess and went back to work with my old company who welcomed me back. |
