I went to Whole Foods yesterday to get the 10% discount plus a $10
bonus. I picked up 2 things and put them in my cart. I looked at
everything else and found nothing I wanted, used or needed. I must
say that I heartily dislike a store having nothing but organic stuff.
I see now where you folks think organic costs 3X or 4X as much as
non-organic. Anyway. I put the items I had back onto the shelf and
walked out of the store empty handed.

Of course they do. It's harder to grow stuff without lots of
chemicals.

I never understood why you were so adamant that organic cost so much
more. The 'regular' supermarkets that I shop at may be may be some
cents more but not three/4 times more. That was a real shocker. But
then, the organic I am familiar with doesn't carry a fancy dancy
label. I'm sure that makes all the difference in the world.

And that's why we call it Whole Paycheck. There are only a few
things I buy the my husband's favorite olive oil, a kalamata-
flavored hummus, and frozen salmon.

Organic fruits and vegetables tend to be significantly more expensive
than the regular produce here, usually 40-50% more.

Obscure, niche, boutique says it. My food co-op carries the same
stuff just not in an up-town way -- and costs much less. The funny
thing is that I see the "bling"* ladies at my food co-op all the time
and not at Whole Foods. My Ford F250 is small compared to their
vehicles. Maybe they shop at my food co-op because it has
old-fashioned parking spaces. Whole Foods spaces are designed for
tiny economy cars.
*Bling ladies. Women from the economic upper echelon of my city.
Bling refers to dripping sparkly jewelry.

Yep! A number of years ago I was looking for commercially available dried pineapple, and not SWEETENED dried pineapple (which was widely available) and when I called a local Whole Paycheck the young man told me "Yes, we have unsweetened dried pineapple." Great, I'll be right over!" and I went.

When I got to Whole Paycheck I asked someone who worked there about unsweetened dried pineapple, and I was led over to this display rack of LOTS of small snack sized pouches of stuff, one being unsweetened dried pineapple! Like 1OZ!! For WAY more $$$ than I was gonna pay for a pound of them!

**** Whole Paycheck! I went to my local grocers and got some CANS of pineapple tidbits, and spent a lot of time and gas in my oven DRYING MY OWN pineapple tidbits! A BUNCH of them! For Christmas Candy making.

Publix Supermarkets has their own brand of organics called Greenwise.
Meats, vegetables, heck even ice cream. The price for Greenwise branded
items is quite high.
