sorry Dave, I'm a firm believer in forgiveness for a first time
offense. (a non-violent crime) Do it again though and then I'll

They don't go to work in the back of a turnip truck, and they don't
think they caught you the very first time. There is always discretion
about laying charges or giving directions. If the person accepts that
they were wrong and it looks like they will try to comply in the future
you can cut them some slack. If they are jerks and want to argue...
charge them and let them argue with the JP.


It is always interesting to look at drivers' conviction records,
especially when the guy is a total dick head. They almost always had an
incident where they received a bunch of chicken shit charges, the sort
of things most officers would never charge for. They were attitude
adjustment charges, and the bigger the jerk, the more likely it was that
there were multiple incidents like that.
