Cracking walnuts and hazelnuts
 
I use locking pliers to crack nuts.

Just set the jaws a bit smaller than the nut shell and you will crack
the nut without damaging the kernel.
I was given several pounds of walnuts and it took me about 20 minutes to
shell them and I ended up with a nice pile of walnut halves.

What do you recommend for macadamia nuts? Many years ago a friend went
to Hawaii and brought back some a big bag of macadamia nuts in the
shell. I never did find a way to crack those things to get whole meats.

Hawaiian macadamia nuts? Those thieves should give them back. This is
cultural appropriation!
