Checking the Price of Oxtails

I called the local supermarkets to ask if they have oxtails and if so,
what is the price per pound?

Publix: I was connected to the meat department. Immediate answer: Yes,
they have them. He went and checked the price. $6.99/lb.

Food Lion: The meat department staff goes home at 8PM. The customer
service rep was able to look up on the computer and found they have some
frozen ones for $6.49/lb. The problem is they didn't know what quantity
is involved. Would I be buying a box of 10 of them? Do they have any
fresh ones? They couldn't tell me.

Walmart: The woman said, "I t'ink dey done gone by now." She
transferred me anyway... into oblivion. LOL

Piggly Wiggly: The meat department employees also had gone home. But
they sent a "runner" from the customer service desk to check. Yes they
have oxtails. $6.99/lb.

The Pig is a lot further away and has the same price as Publix. I'll
likely be buying oxtails at Publix.

Interesting to note: not one of the people I spoke with asked "What's an
oxtail?"

But surely they must have assumed you were from Hawaii.

It was oddly comforting to know not everyone who works in a grocery
store is clueless, especially about something like oxtails. :)

Last year I was in Publix looking for leeks. Nary a leek to be found.
That surprised me. The guy in the produce department didn't know what
they were. That also surprised me.
