Default Apple cider?

In an american recipe - '2 cups apple cider'. What is Apple Cider in the
US? I know what it is here but I had an idea I had heard it was just
juice in american English.

I am looking here
https://cooking.nytimes.com/recipes/... nlid=79673287

Neat trick, eh. First time post and it contains a link to a site that
requires logging in.... traffic for the site and personal info.

The NYT has backed off, somewhat. If I'm not mistaken, a person
can read a NYTimes article at least 5 times per month w/o subscribing.
WSJ is still a buncha dicks.

Thanks - good info.

Now I was able to answer my question as to whether it was referring to
vinegar. I have nothing to add to your comments on cider.

The link took me to the New York Times
recipe for coleslaw. I wonder why it's taking you
somewhere else.

It's funny to think that the NYTimes needs
Tim W to get people to their site (smile)

he posts a link seeking help regarding what is posted at that link. And
that link requires login. The asinine thing is that he didn't copy and
paste the recipe or portion thereof which caused him to have a question.

And the even more asinine thing is people like you expecting me to log
in someplace.

I notice you don't help him either, Wayne.

I'm happy to open safe links sent by posters I know. I don't go to any
sent by posters, which require a log-in with personal details.

Good luck in getting a straight answer from these mugs. You have a very good question. My guess is that you should use apple juice in the slaw. It's the fault of the writer for not being aware that apple cider refers to two different liquids and not specifying which is the correct one. The idea of using apple juice that's reduced, however, is an interesting one.

Not that I'd have been 100% sure of the answer, but I really had to
log in on that site and I don't have or want an account there. Others
the same, no doubt.

On the other other hand, I wanted to see if they were referring to apple
cider vinegar before responding.

Not really asinine. The guy popped in for the first time with a

is suspicious.

Wow. Talk about ridiculous. It was the New York Times website - A
website that people often post here to reference recipes. It's not
like he was spamming his own website or blog, ferchritsakes.

It's seems a handful of people here will forfeit any sense of
reasonability just to be a whiney bitch. And of course Dave here has
an opinion for every thread, regardless of how asinine.

ObFood: Bulgogi beef over medium grain rice will be dinner tonight.

I just close that window that requests you to create an account. You people have so much trouble with browsing! Instead of complaining about shit all the time you should be learning about how to get around these things. My first recommendation is that you ditch Windows.

Firefox with several plug-ins: Self-destructing Cookies, Ad-block Plus and

Can only Americans get an account?

Maybe he is going to buy the NYT and wants more subscribers. You can
put anything in the email and password and it opens for you.

Clean and simple. Eight ingredients €” apple cider, cider vinegar,
cabbage, mustard seeds, celery seeds, sugar, salt and pepper to taste €”
combine into what ought to be a staple of your repertoire. Youll need
to cook the cider down by half before using it, but everything else goes
in raw, and the combination matures over the course of a few hours into
a side dish that can accompany just about anything grilled or roasted,
pulled or hacked.

INGREDIENTS
2 cups apple cider
½ cup cider vinegar
6 cups shredded cabbage
1 tablespoon mustard seeds
1 tablespoon celery seeds
2 tablespoons sugar
Salt and pepper, to taste

PREPARATION
In a small pan, bring cider to a boil over high heat. Turn heat down
slightly and continue to boil until reduced by about half, about 20
minutes. Allow to cool to warm room temperature, then stir in vinegar.

Put cabbage, mustard seeds, celery seeds, sugar and salt and pepper in a
large bowl. Pour in cider mixture, and toss well to coat.
