Default Decorating the Christmas cake

The cake J made has been fed for a month, marzipanned (yesterday)
and iced this morning. Just waiting for the royal icing to firm up a
bit before I put the decorations on the top. ( UK icing= US frosting)

They are all tiny, made of glass and I've had them many years. This
year's design is going to be;

a circle round the top edge, of green holly leaves with red berries,
a small forest of green Christmas trees standing in the centre
a pair of red and white santa boots beside some red parcels tied with
white string.

Next; making some brandy butter and cranberry sauce. Time to put on
the Carols at Kings College Chapel CD. It's beginning to feel a lot
like Christmas.

If it isn't too much bother, would you post a photo of your finished
cake? I don't know about glass decorations for a cake and am really
interested to see them and the finished cake.

This sounds marvelous. I hope you will post a photo. Incidentally, I
live in the US, and we use both icing and frosting, so I guess that's
one place where our terms may be interchangeable.

Thanks for the musical treat.

That's lovely! I would hate to be the first person to cut into it, but
I'm sure it's scrumptious! (Is that a word that will be recognized in
both the UK and US? LOL)

Good looking cake... I supose you know to remove the glass decorations
before serving. There are also holiday decorations made of sugar:

I serve a slice with decorations on and warn any new guests it's not
edible; even small children know to just leave them on their plate to be
washed and re-used next year. I've had them for years and never lost one
yet.

In my childhood, silver coins and charms were hidden in the Christmas
pudding to find as we ate; we never swallowed those either. We knew
they'd be needed again the next year.

There are also holiday decorations made of sugar:

I know, but they aren't as pretty.

All it needs now is a red ribbon round the side but the icing needs to
harden off a bit more first.

You can mold your own with clear colored sugar that looks just like
glass... years ago they could be purchased but I didn't feel like
spending a long time looking.
