Dinner 6/17/16

Copper River King Salmon, down in price enough to be on the dinner plate.
Served with my favorite parsley potatoes and sauteed green beans.

Just did the salmon with butter, lemon, salt and pepper. Simple. Didn't want to mess with that velvet texture and amazing flavor. There will be more in the future since it is now more affordable....still expensive but not $39 a pound.

yeah, I understand. This particular album is just cooking photos I've shared to this group and the group on Facebook for years now. don't know why it wasn't public, it used to be.

I forget who suggested this site when I was getting mad as hell with
tinypic - but it is excellent.

That was me and obviously I agree with your opinion ;)
http://www.hostpic.org/ is equally as good too. Neither site is linked
in any way to google/youtube/facebook/whatever, some ppl may not like
that. I'm not one of those people.

Those of us with very slow speeds appreciate such sites. It gets
frustrating to load say, a photobucket or tinypic link that takes
several minutes to load ads and other misc bloat on the page... the
very LAST thing that loads is always the pic itself.

Yes, hadn't really thought of that being a city dweller with all the
benefits of high speed. Something made me think about dial up the
other day and I marvelled we had come so far in such a relatively
short time.

For sure. I'm sorta back to the dial up days again even though I have
satellite broadband. The problem is the service is heavily
oversubscribed, it was fine for the first six months. Anyway, it's now
slow during peak hours, and with web sites getting more and more
bloated, things are now as slow as the dial up days were for me.

The satellite I'm on is government subsidised (part of the 'National
broadband Network') and was always intended to be temporary. I'm
overdue to be moved onto the new NBN satellite, when it'll actually
happen I don't know. IIRC that is something like 25Mbps whereas the
one I'm on currently is 6Mbps, but is actually closer to 64Kbps. Can't
view videos and certain sites at all... I can't even upload a small
pic during peak hours. And yet during offpeak hours, I download about
300GB per month.

This is what I got:

404. That’s an error.

If you can use Facebook, try this:
https://www.facebook.com/Hizzoners/p...type=3&theater

Yes, I don't belong to Facebook but when I clicked on your link it showed
the pic before asking for sign in. It looked very good with the Salmon,
green beans, and red skinned potatoes. I'm sure it was as good as it looks.

Away from the cities, its the same here. Sparse population and long
distances and ISPs just don't want to do it as it is not profitable.

It's because I use Adblock that tinypic got its knickers in a knot. No

I'm not sure how Adblock does its thing. I use NoScript.

Basically, when you go to a website, it has all kindsa scripts it runs
to accomplish its task. Some are server-side scripts (their server
hasta run a script fer each new viewer), but more are client-side (IE, FF,
browsers) scripts, which run on YOUR computer. Flash and Javascript are
two examples of client-side scripts that a website needs YOUR computer
to both have and run (can't be blocked!) in order for the web-site to
properly function.

I notice websites are recently becoming quite aggresive in getting you
to "enable" yer client-side utilities, which inludes disabling
blockers. Usta be a website jes didn't work. Now, they're actively
chastising one fer not having client-side scripts enabled. Screw 'em.
I wanna be in control of what my computer does, not some damn website!

Jes a endorsement of NoScript. It does more than jes block ads. It
stops ALL client-side scripts (from a website) from running on YOUR
computer. It tells you how many client-side scripts are running (two
dozen scripts is not uncommon!), and then lets you enable each script,
one-at-a-time. Full control!

(works best with Mozilla browsers)

I don`t get those irritating jump up and down ads, in fact I get no
ads.

Correct - the Daily Telegraph always has a banner which says `We see
you have an ad blocker`and asks me to dismantle it, which I don`t. I
have gone to the odd site which wouldn`t allow Adblock, so I just left
it. The tinypic furore was irritating though because it didn`t say
anything about adblocker - then when postimage was pointed out, I
figured to hell with tinypics histrionics.
