Hi Gary, I'd trimmed out messages and missed this thread. Sorry to hear
it if Mia passed on.

I'm terribly sorry to hear this Gary. Our pets
bring so much joy and companionship into our lives
and they're sorely missed when they leave us.

Sorry to hear that. I hate it when pets have to go.

Thanks to all of you that wrote something. Each one of your
comments did help a bit and I appreciated all.

Mia had just been steadily going downhill for months
and especially in the last 2 weeks of her life. I gladly did
everything for her to keep her going and happy but still it's
not like nursing a pet back to health. There was no
"back to health" with her.

Just know that she died in the best way I can imagine.
She died Friday evening.
She had a full meal, then settled in right next to me.
I had my hand right on her and stroking her head
and neck occasionally.
She fell asleep and just never woke up. No last minute
struggling or gasps or anything.
She literally did die peacefully in her sleep.

It was time for her to go and I'm happy that it seems
to have went well. Meanwhile, I'm not so happy myself.
I'm having a really hard time dealing with this.
This little girl was way more than the average pet.
I miss her so much.

She lived 8 years and 2 months. Better than average.

Thank you all again for your support.

I know how painful this is, but I hope you find some solace in knowing
that Mia was loved and you gave her a good life.

We should all be so lucky to have a great last meal,
be with someone we love and peacefully drift off with
no pain or struggling.

You'll get another pet when the time is right for you.
Hang in there, it will get better.

Gary, I'm very sorry for your loss. I know how much it hurts.

If and when the time is right, you'll find another furry friend.

I had a little mutt dog (Sampson) from the time I was 21 until I was 40
years old. (He was even in my divorce settlement!) No one expected him
to live nearly 18 years. I was devastated when he died. I swore I'd
never get another pet. A year later a cat named Persia barged into my
life, insisting she lived in my apartment...

I wish you all the best. I know how you're feeling. I think most of us do.

So sorry Gary as I know how that feels. She passed easily in her time.

When your heart has time to heal, you will be ready for another
companion. They won't replace Mia so much as become a new friend.

I didn't know men could have their period.
