Default I have ice!

I just ordered this ice maker and it arrived.

http://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B...p age_o01_s00

Although with the two day shipping, it should have come today but Amazon
listed that it would arrive tomorrow. So imagine my surprise when the UPS
guy came with a big package!

I didn't have to do much for set up. Mainly pull off two protective
Styrofoam things on the sides, some plastic sheeting type stuff and pick off
a few pieces of strapping tape inside. But the instructions weren't
particularly clear. Did not tell me exactly where to put the water in so I
winged it and got it right. I then was supposed to select between small or
large cubes and turn it on. However, I found that I had to turn it on
before I selected the size. I accidentally pushed the "L" button so...
Large it is!

I then walked back in here to take my thyroid pill and I heard cubes coming
out. Whoa! That fast? Seems the instructions also should have told me to
put the ice holding basket back in place because now I had a few cubes
floating in the water. I picked them out with the enclosed ice scoop and
put them in my mouth. Then I grabbed a quick shower and returned to find
enough done cubes to sill my Seahawks Solo (think red beer cup size) 3/4
full of cubes! And I just now heard more cubes come out.

So... I am VERY happy! Seems that the only thing that is helping to bring
my voice back following the surgery, besides not using my voice of course,
is ice cubes. And another person here will soon have surgery and will need
lots of ice. So this was a much needed thing. Only thing that put me off
of buying sooner was that the less expensive ones didn't seem to get good
reviews. Frankly I would have preferred to pay $100 or less but, I had
plenty of Amazon credit and this one got very good reviews.

The shape of the cubes are like gumdrops but are hollow on the inside.

The only bad thing is that due to the design of the plug, I was unable to
locate the machine to the right side of the fridge. I have a little piece
of unused counter space there and it would have been the perfect spot. I
wound up having to move it to the other side of the fridge, taking up much
needed counter space. Ima hafta think about this and shift a few things
around. But I am still very happy.

I dislike having to lug big bags of purchased ice around and then when I get
it home, unless I am lucky enough to find a small bag, I have no place to
put it. I don't really have room in my freezer for ice cube trays either.
And no, I have no ice maker in my freezer. I just don't like those for
numerous reasons.
