What happens when...
 

....when you give a dog a plastic Vitamix jar to clean up -- covered with
creamy soup smelling of chicken broth? *Crunch*

I saw Wife give it to him and I didn't say anything, and I probably
should have. The jar is still usable, but I don't know how you'd ever
clean it properly with all the gnaw marks around the spout.

Replacement jars are kind of expensive, unless you get just the jar w/o
the blade and lid from a restaurant supply place. How hard is it to
remove the blade assembly from the old jar and install it on a new one?
Any tricks? (like silicone grease or teflon tape on the threads, etc)
IIRC, there's a spanner nut on the bottom.

eBay or Craig's list. or just ignore the gnaw marks. Wash it in the dishwasher and it will be fine.

I just ordered a replacement on Amazon. $39; includes the spanner
wrench, and free 2-day shipping.

I could get one $10 cheaper elsewhere, but with shipping it would be
almost the same price, no wrench (I'm sure I could improvise one), and
wouldn't get here in time for Christmas.

Good to hear it's not too painful to replace. Is your dog very
large? Or just determined to bite that soup, but good. Hope it's
okay.

The dog is fine :) 80 pound Labrador, down from 90 pounds a year or two
ago. He chewed most of the spout off the jar and the rest is full of
toothmarks but he didn't eat much plastic. If he did swallow any
plastic, it was tiny pieces.

It looks like he had good time.
