I like them and use them when I don't have stock on hand. For everyone who likes something better, there are some that don't, live with it. Make your own stock every single time, and leave others to do as they choose without your RFC like judgement. LOL Cheri |

I will take your comments under advisement. No you won't. heheh No worries though. I wasn't picking on you personally, just used your current post to rant about homemade and it was directed to others too that use boxed. I give up though. Do your own thing. I just won't waste money on the high-priced canned, flavored water. 20 gallons of water, one small chicken, a couple of assorted veggies plus salt, msg and other artificial flavorings will make several cases of broth to put on store shelves. TV chefs use this all the time so why not us? |

Many here think Better than Bouillon is the second coming of Christ. I don't. You, apparently, have mostly airspace in your freezer to fill or maybe you don't cook much using just little stock. Sure, I make homemade but it's not always on hand - so I have found boxed broth/stock that I like to keep on hand. In fact, I've used them in a pinch as the main broth of two different soups and hubby repeatedly told me how much he liked it after I told him it wasn't homemade stock. So I think this paragraph is best read repeatedly until it's in long term memory: Quote: Don't get me wrong; there's nothing like rich, homemade chicken stock, quivering with gelatin. But there's a flaw in the Bittman-Ruhlman chicken-broth agenda, and it's one that's shared by abstinence-only sex education: We're inevitably going to slip up, so we need to be informed of the alternatives. -- sf |

It is a testament to their skill, imagination, and resourcefulness. In cooking, as in life, it ain't what you got, it's how you use it that counts. |

TV chef's show viable short cuts for busy or even disinterested (yes, they exist) cooks and encourage them not to rely on highly processed foods. If you want to substitute homemade for boxed, nobody is stopping you - especially TV chefs. If you recommended one brand of boxed stock over another for specific reasons, then fine. If you found a known allergen hiding by another name in an ingredients list, that would be considered a valid warning... but I don't get why you have to nanny us about this triviality. Really, we're all adults here and capable of making our own choice about what we want to use. -- sf |

This particular post references an article by Stew Webb, a contributor of Veterans Today. In his life-time, George H. W. Bush (GHWB) has controlled every clandestine (hidden from view) and secret organization/operation within the arsenal of the United States government as either 1) Director of the CIA, 2) Vice President to Ronald Reagan (who was an unwitting puppet to the Bush controlled cabal – GHWB secretly gave Reagan poisons that hastened his fall into Alzheimer’s Disease and evidence suggests he helped plan Reagan’ attempted assassination by John Hinckley, whose family were close friends of the Bush family – a coincidence?) and 3) ultimately as President of the United States before Bill Clinton took office. |
