Cracker Barrel Cheddar
 

I think maybe they put catnip in their cheese. My cat ignores people
food with the exception of when I have a piece of c.b. cheddar. She
is there instantly meowing her head off, demanding to receive some.

Wow, I haven't thought about that brand of cheese in ages! I'll have to
see if they still sell it at my grocery store. (Then I'll find out if
my cat, who also ignores people food, suddenly demands some!)

This is only the cracker barrel one though, any other brand and it
does not have the same effect. My last dog was fanatical about cheese
but then she developed chronic pancreatitis and cheese was off the
list. We resorted to putting cheese in tupperware in the fridge
because if she heard saran wrap, she was there like a shot. When the
sad day came, I took a nice piece of cheese with me and she was
allowed to gulp it down before the needle went in :(

Huh. My cats never differentiated. They came snooping around
for any cheddar. Other kinds of cheese are hit or miss.

What a marvelous thing to do for your dog. I doubt I'll have
another one but if I do, it's something to keep in mind.

Hi Nancy,

I've loved and lost many a pet. In another group, I am handling a good
part of the Jellicle Ball for this year. Loosely related to the 'CATS'
play of fame, it's shifted a lot and is a usenet thing that happens
every year. This is the 20th. There we revere all our past pets.

Since I adopt older pets with medical issues, I tend to lose them
sooner obviously but I feel good about a final real home since most
won't even think to take in a 10yo.

Iowna has been such a joy here! She was just shy of 11 when we got
her. Blind by age 9 of glaucoma, she's my first blind dog. She'll be
14 in July. She may not make 14 because of severe arthritis but so
far, Tramadol keeps her steady.

We have two cats that will eat cheese. We don't buy Cracker Barrel
Cheddar but rather 2-year old Balderson which is produced locally.

Kita will eat some as long as I give her some, usually slivers as
she has kidney trouble and protein is an issue, so it's a taste
treat. Suki has eaten cheese occasionally.

Kita has also eaten Velveeta, Saint-Paulin, Oka, and just about
any cheese I have for breakfast. She has not turned her nose up
at any cheese, but as she lived on the street before adopting us
she must have retained the ability to eat whatever comes your way.

It is my opinion that cats like sharp taste and strong odour. This
might explain why, while they dislike bodies of water, they like
fish so much.
