Default OT my Frontier account

In light of the bogus website link that was put up here, I did check my
Frontier account. This was the very first time that I have ever logged into
it. The account activity shows three email accounts. Mine, my daughter's
and my husband's. There are no personal websites under any of our names.
And no, I'm not going to put up a link to show you my account information.

I also read about how to get a website on Frontier and you have to FTP it to
them which I know that I did not do.

I don't know what that website is or anything about it. I do know that if
you do a search on my name, that will not come up. And I can only urge you
not to click on the link that was posted. I am not going to waste any more
time on this or try to investigate it or whatever. Clearly people here are
trying to upset me. If any more mention is made of it, I will merely refer
you to this thread.

I do not know what the content is on the posted link nor will I click on it
again as it is *not* my website despite what anyone here has to say about
it. I did see pics of my daughter from the 6th grade. But beyond that I
will not look at anything because I have no idea what it is.

And now? I shall eat my soup. It's chicken and noodle.

I did not have sex with that woman, Monica Lewinski.

Julie, I rarely post here and I (for the most part) support and enjoy
reading your posts. Being an IT Manager I feel like I have to contribute to
this mess. Your old Verizon website was converted to Frontier, I'm sure you
realize this now and others have pointed it out. It has your personal
information on it, this has been verified. Multiple people have pointed out
that there isn't a virus on this site and I have clicked several links and I
concur with them, it's a safe site. However, it does have your personal data
on it. Your view appears to be so what, I didn't put it on the Frontier site
and it doesn't come up in a search engine so no harm done. You do realize
though that this newsgroup in archived and it DOES come up in a Google
search along with the URL for the site. It you don't care, that's fine but
please don't bury your head in the sand and think that Bryan (the ass)
created it or that it's not yours or that it can't be found. My
recommendation is to take the 3 minutes to write them an email at
and ask them to remove it. Thanks! Kody

I am not now nor have I ever been a card-carrying member of the
Conservative Party of Canada (CPC).

And Julie is an obstinate ass for not trying to remove the old site. Deny, deny, deny...but that doesn't solve the problem. Why she won't listen to good advice is beyond my ken.

Taking down a Web site is a matter of just deleting the files in it. Nobody
needs tech support. It's BS.

She indicated that she didn't know how to access it. From what little I saw
on the Frontier site, it's all done with FTP, which requires a bit of
technical knowledge.

Nice of you to go to that trouble, but Julie's instinctive reaction
will be to specifically NOT do that - purely because you just told her
to do that.

Does not. And all you need is something like CuteFTP or some other free
utility to make it idiot proof. If she could upload the files, she could
delete them just as easy. I have done IT work since 1984 and have a lot of
expericne in this.

She will view it as being told what to do - thus she won't do it. She
has some kind of issue with that sort of thing. Doesnt matter how
minor the advice/suggestion may be. That is one of her traits Roy, she
doesnt like to be told what to do - even if it's to her benefit.

Go back and read her post, she created the Verizon site years ago and no
longer has an FTP program or the knowledge or desire to use one. Frontier

Maybe YOU, her buddy, can get thru that thick skull and convince her to take some deletion action. Good luck.

Congratulations Paul, welcome to the club. That doesnt mean Julie may
not need help. At least Kody sent her the email address to use to
contact them.

Verizon sold 4.8 million customers to Frontier Communications 6 years ago.
Most customers probably never knerw about it other than the URL changed.
The rest including logins and passwords stayed the same. And 6 years is
plenty of time to cancel a Web site if you wanted to.

Apparently you haven't dealt with Frontier. I have. I wind up spending
hours trying to get something fixed only to have the continued problem. I
have also asked in the past at other ISPs for them to take down an old
website of mine and they said they could/would not. That eventually it
would be purged. They didn't have the time to do this for each person.

If it is indeed my old website, then oh well. I don't really care. I just
don't want someone here complaining that links don't work because I haven't
done anything with that website for years and I will not maintain it.

What problem? Where is the problem? I didn't post the link. Bryan is the
one who is trying to cause a problem.

And I can not do that because I no longer have the FTP program nor am I
going to get it. I don't even have those pages on this computer.

Correct! I am not going to get another FTP program. The one I had was very
outdated. As in over 16 years old. Probably wouldn't even work with Vista.
I am not going to buy or even download some program to remove some old files
that I didn't even put there.

I *didn't* upload the files to Frontier. That is what I have been saying.
I have my dad's old computer now. I didn't put any of my old software onto
it. I will likely never have another website. So I am not going to get an
FTP program.

Nothing is haunting me! I don't care if it is my old website still floating
around. I am merely pointing out to people here that I do not maintain a
website. There is no law requiring me to take an old website down. You
would think that my ISP would have done that since it is clear that it has
had no activity for something like 5 years. But as I pointed out, I am not
the only one who has this situation. A woman died in 2009 and some of her
websites are still partially up.

You can open a FTP site using IE, you do not even need a dedicated FTP
utility.

They might or they might not. They do not seem to work well with others. I
have called them repeatedly due to email problems. They have had me "ping"
them. I am sure that you know what that term means since you work in IT.
They do not. They have me do it and then when the packets are sent but not
received, they blame *my* mail reader and tell me to get Thunderbird
instead. They have also told me that I need to clear out my webmail, my
junk mail, my inbox, the list goes on and on. I'm not even a computer
person but I do know what it means when they are pinged and do not receive
the packets and also what it means when the packets are lost.

Not being able to get my mail was indeed a problem. This isn't a problem
except that Bryan is trying to make it so. So I would just as soon not have
to contact them with this.

BS! I had a book on HTML and I had an old FTP program. I first put up my
website back in probably 1996. Perhaps it was 1995. My computer was
running Win95 then and I got it when it was newly on the market. So new
that the person I bought the computer from hadn't even heard of it. I had
the very first version. I did things the old school way. This in the day
when most people were doing a simple Geocities website. I was bored and had
nothing better to do.

I don't know about that.

And I really don't care.

Well, it was advice. But as I have said, I did try this in the past with
other ISPs and they did nothing.

Apparently you know more than they do because the problem could be on either
end or in between and no email reader will fix that. BTW p;ings are not at
all conclusive as it is SOP to turn off ICMP in firewalls. Something else
the "tech" didn't know apparently.

What does it really matter? Are you going to contact every person that has
some old outdated website and tell them to take it down? Good luck with
that!

As I said... I checked my account and they do not have a website listed for
me. It also says 0/0 mb used. I think this is just one of those things
that fell through the cracks. There are many such old websites out there.
The person died, the business closed, etc.

It would still work fine. FTP is a 35 year old protocol and nothing has
changed since the day it was released. Your old FTP program would work just
fine. In fact IE would work just fine. Just choose "View this site in
Windows Explorer" in IE. IE is free.

If you can access your account you can delet your Web site. Or change teh
password.

Give it up. I have 30 years of experience, a college degree in CIS and a
library of knowledge. Plus I have done Web design and programming before
and I don't mean a few hash tags, either. Plus I actually WORKED on these
protocols in college. I run my own IT/Telecomm company. You won't stand a
chance.

Like I said, use IE or download a free utility. There are many. Even the
commercial ones give you a free 30 day trial. Any way you cut it, there is
no cost involved.

You already have an FTP programme... it's called Windows Explorer.
