It turns out people go to Red Lobster for the seafood. The struggling
chain on Monday plans to announce another revamped menu that removes
dishes including Spicy Tortilla Soup and a Wood-Grilled Pork Chop,
while tacking on more dishes featuring lobster.

The non-seafood dishes had been added by the chain's previous owner,
Darden Restaurants Inc., in hopes of attracting people who don't like
seafood as sales declined. But the new management thinks that was a
mistake. "At the end of the day, we believe that seafood is really why
people come to Red Lobster," said Salli Setta, Red Lobster's
president, in a phone interview. The revamped menu is 85 percent
seafood, up from 75 percent. Red Lobster says the menu will be easier
to navigate and features more photos of the food. Four of the five new
dishes include lobster, and it's increasing the amount of shrimp in
the popular "Ultimate Feast" platter by 50 percent. The price of the
dish, which also includes lobster and crab, will go up by a dollar to
$26.99.

I don't like seafood but just the smell of seafood is so off-putting to me
that I wouldn't want to go in there for that reason. Somehow I don't think
that changing the menu is going to help/

I *really* like seafood, especially lobster, but I don't cook it at
home for a number of reasons. So I'm now much more likely to go there
now that there's more seafood on the menu.

And I don't care if it's a previously frozen product.

Red Lobster (or the Purple Fish as we used to call it!) is the McCraps
of seafood. Yuck!!

Although I eremember liking their Lobster Mornay (I think it was) back
in the day! Like a lobster stew, sort of.

You are SUCH a stupid woman. Obviously the reason WHY the non-seafood
items didn't perform well is because few people want to smell seafood
when they're not eating seafood. Seafood lovers in Julie's area can now
happily visit RL w/o the likelihood of encountering the Bovines and the
other trashy folks they surround themselves with.

there is a chance that they may be smarter than some humans. Julie

Red Lobster management needs to travel to Calabash to see and taste
Seafood the way it is supposed to be prepared. Broiled, Baked and
Poached is not the way to prepare Seafood. Once you try Southern
"Fried" Shrimp, Scallops, Oysters and Fish with Hush Puppies and
Coleslaw...you will achieve gastronomical nirvana! As an added bonus,
there is a Krispy Kreme Doughnut store nearby where you can enjoy a
"hot glazed" fried doughnut for dessert.

You can keep the hush puppies (BORING!), and the coleslaw (nasty), but
fried is indeed the thrilling way to prepare seafood and fish. Chicken
too, and pork chops, and some cheap cuts of beef (chicken fried steak).
This morning I made myself naked pan cooked short ribs. There was a pan my wife had used to brown stew meat, and had not deglazed, so I used that to
cook my short ribs (deeply discounted because tomorrow was their sell by
date). I cooked them rare, but they had lovely browned meat flavor picked
up from the pan.

Why not? Calabash is in NC. The home of Krispy Kreme Doughnuts is in
Winston Salem, NC. In the early 1950's we would go to Winston on a
Saturday to shop. We frequently stopped at the home of KK for a
doughnut and cold milk for me and coffee for either my mother or my
aunt. Not the original KK store but DH & I sometimes stop at one in
WS when we go there to shop.

We visited in Hampstead NC a couple of years ago and our friends took
us to a seafood place. It was wonderful. My husband used to work at
the NC/SC coast when he was in high school. He took pictures of the
people coming off the fishing boats with their catch.

We can frequently get NC caught shrimp at a Lowe's grocery store. And
we live at the foot of the Blue Ridge Mountains.

They are lumps of sugared grease as soon as they cool. Do you
understand the difference between glazed and a sugar donut (hint, it's
not a cake donut)? Do you understand the difference between filled
and not filled (see previous hint)? The dough for all three is the
same and it's fried. I don't like glazed donuts in general and Krispy
Kreme in particular. I like the other two variations, but not when
they are KK.

They are not particularly greasy, though the proportion of glaze to dough
is super high, so they are very sweet.

I used to spend a lot of time at the donut shop where John worked, as my
girlfriend was a donut girl (worked behind the counter). I know a lot
about donuts. Not nearly as much as John, but probably more than you.

What occasion would *ever* have had to *try* a KK glazed donut? Do you
often eat things that you "hate"? The church used to buy them for
fellowship hour, and sometimes they'd have boatloads left that were at
least 4 or 5 hours out of the glazer, and they were still quite appealing.

And I don't like sugar donuts, with icky, grainy sugar on them, nor filled donuts because they're always filled with something shitty like crappy
jelly or poor quality custard. They could use good custard, but that
would be more expensive than mixing up the powdered junk, so they don't do
it.

These also look very good, but IMO, ought to be made with cake flour, not
all purpose, and I would flavor the glaze with vanilla instead of honey.

They are only slightly higher in proportion of fat to carb than DD's
glazed, but significantly higher in sugar to starch ratio.

My dad once bought a dozen. I tried a tiny pinch off of one. Nobody would
eat them and we had to toss them out. Yuck!

I love glazed doughnuts, and Krispy Kreme are pure shit. There are very few places that make really good doughnuts. Krispy Kreme is not even close.
