Chicken Tinga Ripoff!
 

I don't normally shop at QFC but we stopped there the other day for some
specific reason that escapes me now. I bought two packages of precooked
meat for tacos tonight. Chicken Tinga and Barbacoa. I only read the
ingredients and did not see that the Barbacoa has chile sauce in it and my
husband hates that. So I heated the chicken for his tacos. I managed to
pick out 5 bite sized pieces of chicken. The rest was a thick sauce with
tomato chunks. This was supposed to be 3 servings. And they showed them
eaten as tacos. Ha! Even if served as a soup which is what it looked like,
that would still only feed one person.

So... Angela will have to have something else. I doubt she would like it
anyway with all that tomato. The picture on the outside was clearly a
misrepresentation of what was inside. I have yet to open the Barbacoa but
am expecting more of the same.

At least these were cheap. But I won't be buying them again!

Have you seen that Costco is selling cryovac'd packages of their
rotisserie chicken. The package is pieces of meat only and found at
the meat counter with the deli trays.

Gee, like no one has ever experienced that before. It's marketing. The
pictures of the food on the package are never what is in the actual
package. In fact, most of the photos state "representative image" in
very small print. So don't tell me you read labels.

Got the receipt? Take the stuff back. Seriously. There is no point in
complaining about products here because we don't shop at your stores.
Of course it's not their fault you didn't know what you were buying but
it might not matter.

No, but I haven't been there in a couple of months. Thanks for the

No idea what QFC is. It reminds me of QVC, but maybe they did that on
purpose.

I didn't look. That area is always heavy traffic and I was just
trying to read the shelves so that I would know what was in the store.
I will probably go this weekend and will look then.

If it is 'meat' and it is cheap, you can bet your booties that meat is
not what the stuff inside is all about. Real meat costs money.

No but nobody here likes rotisserie chicken. I finally came up with a way
to do chicken so they like it and that's the only kind of chicken they like.

I will never buy this Barbacoa again. Unlike the chicken, there was a lot
of meat but it is bad. Fatty and has a weird, chalky taste. The stuff that
Costco sells is great! Only problem with that is that the package is too
large. I like it. I just don't really want it any more than perhaps once
or twice a year and nobody else here will eat it.

I have to read each and every label to see what is in there. Both packages
turned out not to look anything like the picture but in entirely different
ways. I have bought the Barbacoa at Costco but it didn't look or taste
anything like this. I believe they also sell Chicken Tinga but I'm not sure
I would buy it after this experience.

And no of course I don't have the receipt. And I can't take back something
that someone has eaten. Nor would I bother to take stuff like this back. I
paid...what...I dunno...maybe $6-7 for two packages? QFC is not a store
that I go to often. And I hate it when people take things back for what I
think are frivolous reasons. Certainly if something is spoiled or broken,
that would be a real reason. But just because you don't like something?
You do that a few times and you'll find yourself being blacklisted by the
store.

And why can't I complain here? You do! Lots of people do.

Grocery store owned by Kroger. Mostly high prices and they don't sell a
lot of things that I buy, like wheat grass. So I generally only shop there
if there is a need. I remember now why we went. They were the only store
to have advertised Coke products on sale. Turns out that Albertsons did
have them on sale. They usually do. They just weren't in the ad.

The two packages were just the opposite. The chicken was all veggies and
sauce. The beef was all beef with very little sauce. It just wasn't good
beef. I have been spoiled because the beef that Costco sells is yummy.

You might be surprised. I bought a jar of dry roasted peanuts at Family
Dollar, their brand. It says right on the label, if not completely
satisfied return the EMPTY package with the receipt for a refund. (I
didn't need to return them; the peanuts were fine.)

They don't want people bringing back opened containers of food which
they then have to dispose of. But the empty container with receipt and
a legitimate complaint would most likely not be issue unless you make a
habit of it.

As for complaining... have you *ever* told a store manager you were
dissatisfied with something? How are they supposed to know something is
wrong unless consumers tell them?

I might get there today. If I do, I'll post what I see... if I see
it. Didn't see that product at Safeway the other day and I looked for
it specifically. There's always a line at customer service, so I
didn't inquire if they still have it on their list of choices to order
or not.

Yes. The White Cat Popcorn from Sur La Table. I have not told a store
manager that in a grocery store though. But I did work in a store and I
frequently went beyond the store manager with complaints of poor products.
And where did that go? Nowhere. A store manager isn't going to be able to
change what they sell, particularly if it is a Kroger product.
