Gotta Love 1960's Ads for Products
RC Cola The one with the "mad mad taste!"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RT8fhKun6p8 If I've ever tasted it I sure don't remember. I do remember the jingle sung by Nancy Sinatra. I love watching these old ads. Jill |

Thanks to my mother, the perpetual dieter, we had Diet Rite in the house from an early age. Once -- once -- she tried making a substitute milkshake in the blender with Diet Rite, ice, and a ripe banana. She also had cans of Metrecal in the cabinet. The sugar-sweetened RC Cola was hard to come by. Most often it was part of a pizza delivery -- I guess it was more profitable for pizza joints than Coke or Pepsi. |

Detroit had Faygo > and Towne Club. > Yes, both had typical flavors http://articles.philly.com/1990-12-2...bottling-plant POSTED: December 20, 1990 It's still Frank's, thanks. But because of the quiet sale of the 95-year- old local institution to an Elizabeth, N.J., bottler, Frank's Beverages are no longer made in Philadelphia. Frank's sodas, including cream, birch beer and the legendary Black Cherry Wishniak, are being manufactured and bottled these days in North Jersey, at the plant of C&C Cola. The grandson and great-grandson of founder Jacob Frank sold the business in August to C&C, owned by a fellow independent bottler who'd been wooing them for some time. Both companies are privately held, and the purchase price was not disclosed. But don't worry. All your favorite Frank's flavors will taste the same. "We know Frank's is very popular in Philadelphia, and the only thing we've done is change the design of the label to re-emphasize Frank's," said Ed Friedhoff, C&C executive vice president and chief operating officer. "We will keep all of Frank's flavors. The only change we'll make is to expand the line with different (bottle and can) sizes." As for the slogan - "Is It Frank's? Thanks!" - Friedhoff said, "We'll be keeping it, absolutely." |

My parents drank both that and Sego, neither of which seemed to cause any weight loss. My mom made the dreaded Weight Watcher's shakes. Crushed ice, powdered milk and cold coffee, chocolate or other extract, or frozen berries whipped up. My dad drank those often. He did lose weight on WWs but didn't keep it of once he finished the diet. I think the idea was to stay on the maintenance plan for life but he thought about 2 weeks was enough. > The sugar-sweetened RC Cola was hard to come by. Have seen it here but mostly I remember the RC in Wichita and we moved from there when I was 7. |
