Sugar Cone Christmas Trees
Every year, my class makes sugar cone Christmas trees. We incorporate
lessons about measurement, fractions, geometry, and reading and following written directions. If you have young ones to entertain this season, ice sugar ice cream cones with green frosting, and decorate with small candies and sprinkles. The Christmas trees always turn out so creative. https://www.google.com/search?q=sugar+cone+christmas +tree&client=ubuntu&hs=JvU&channel=fs&tbm=isch&tbo =u&source=univ&sa=X&ei=2cW0UpzEJs6- sQTG74LwAw&ved=0CCsQsAQ http://tinyurl.com/nvrjav7 Tara |

Bake a rectangular cake, then when cool, cut two triangles off the sides lengthwise. It is recommended to use a fluffy white frosting tinted green but I never liked fluffy frosting so just used my standard buttercream. Frost the top of the cake the fit the cut pieces across it so that you have two layers. Frost the whole thing, sprinkle with some red candies, then stuff three candy canes with the curves broken off in the bottom for the trunk. |
