Cherries?
 

Has anyone seen fresh cherries for sale this time of year? I know they're
not in season and I rarely ever buy them, seeing as how we have a Bing tree
out front. Plus none of us are real cherry lovers.

But now he who has gout, wants some. I do have cherry juice but nothing
else cherry in the house. Wish I had know of this while we were out. Went
to three different stores today too. Grrr...

He will just have to make do with the juice until I can get to Winco which
will be Friday or perhaps tomorrow. Guess I should get a few cans of
cherries or look for some dried ones or something. I think they might also
come frozen but got no freezer space right now. Why is it when you want
freezer space, nobody will eat up the frozen food?

Dried cherries are usually pretty good. Like big yummier raisins.

Don't usually get off sesason cherries until around Christmas. I count
on them at Christmas for:

I did buy the dried. Have made chocolate covered cherries with fondant but
I use maraschino.

Ugh! The whole reason I invented my Chocolate Covered Cherries is
because all my life I liked the idea of a chocolate covered cherry,
but every one I ever had had one huge problem! The only reason it was
called a chocolate covered cherry is that the cherry inside was only
called a cherry because at one time it used to be one! A MARACHINO
ABOMINATION! I saw a program once on how marachino cherries are made.
First step, suck all the color and flavor out of cherries, leaving
these translucent white cherry-shaped orbs to which artificial color
and flavor are then infused! UGH!!

Not mine! I start with real fresh Bing cherries and I pit them and
then soak them in Majic Juice (yes there is liquor involved!) Then I
drain them and carefully wrap each cherry by hand in an almond and
vanilla flavored non-cooked fondant (powered sugar dough) and dip in
REAL dark chocolate! The secret to liquification of the center is a
well known candy making trick: the interaction of invert sugar and an
enzyme sold in candy making supply shops called invertase. Over
several days the uncooked fondant (powered sugar dough) liquifies and
they are done!

I have achieved my imagined Platonic Form of the ideal Chocolate
Covered Cherry! One female friend of mine calls them "orgasms"!
