Hi there,

I have been aweful with my teeth when i was younger by being stupid
enough to eat large amounts of carbs and brush my teeth once a day ...
that silly 1 year stunt has left me with several areas of
decalcification (mostly around the gumline of the teeth). So because
of these decal'ed (as seen by white lines on my teeth) cavities (the
black dots that grow over time) start appearing over the years despite
my obsessive regimen of brushing within 20mins after eating each day
and flosing each time (so on avg i brush and floss 3x a day). And i
also use mouth wash jsut before brushing. I also use a scalar once a
month to scrape off any plaque. But yet cavities STILL keep
appearing.

My only hope is to buy some really effective fluroide mix (not the
lame-ass amounts in toothpaste or in water) that will produce a more
effective guard on my teeth, and hopefully restore them to a better
health over time.

Is there a fluroide rinse, or ideally some kind of solid mix i can
pack betweeen my teeth (like at the dentist office) each morning to
help my teeth out? I want ot be able to purchase this online or
through some black market if i have to.

I've asked my dentist but the prices are insane...Online, i am hoping
to find a cheaper deal for the same effectiveness.

I couldn't find anything at the Shoppers Drug Mart website. In the US,
it is sold at grocery stores, discount stores, pharmacies, etc. Places
like Kroger, Ralph's, Rite Aid, Target, Walmart, etc. So maybe Zellers
or Canadian Tire or who knows where.

If you're near the border, cross over and pick some up.

Any chance you're brushing too hard or too often? That plays havoc on
enamel. If your brush looks like an old broom after a few weeks,
you're brushing too hard.

Other ways to keep your teeth clean include chewing sugarless gum after
eating or eating cheese at the end of a meal. The casseins in cheese
supposedly suppress cavity bacteria. There are even chewing gums that
have these added, to improve teeth cleaning between brushing.

And don't you think that fluoride mouth wash, even if expensive, is a heck
of a lot cheaper than fillings? I've used the stuff, I didn't think it was
THAT expensive, especially if you use the higher concentration that only
needs to be used once a week. A bottle lasts for a few months.

Exactly! You think that's expensive, just wait till they start
yanking your teeth. Then replacing them. Expensive will have a

What my dentist told me is that, as one grows older <sigh>, one's gums
recede, leaving the newly "revealed" tooth bits vulnerable. Sooo, I
slosh Listerine and ACT every day (Listerine, I'm told, kills almost
all of the germs in one's mouth for the day). Jeez, I don't recall
worrying about cr*p like this 15 years ago...!

In order for all the germs in your mouth to be killed, you'd have to
rinse with very strong acid, a process I do not recommend because it can
result in death--not to mention severe disfigurement of your oral cavity.

It's a fad. Listerine may kill some germs, but believe me, the bulk
remains in your mouth, especially in the crevices between your teeth, et
cetera.

Listerine is nothing more that one of the many legends which have been
propagated by our media.

Colgate makes a high fluoride toothpaste that is prescription only in
the US. My kid had to use it for a while.

Your dentist should be able to provide you with a small (economically
priced) bottle of floride gel. Mine gave me some a number of years ago.

My duaghter had that....and when she finished that bottle, her regular
toothpaste was switched to a Colgate high fluoride toothpaste that was
prescription only. Too much soda - at school. The following year the
kids voted out the soda machine and had it replaced with a machine for
water and gatorade.

Too much fluoride can be a bad thing - hypocalcemia and organ failure
to name a few...

That being said, you can purchase sodium fluoride supplements through
health food stores or online.

Johnson and Johnson make ACT mouthwash, a fluoride rinse. It is sold
in the US, and can be ordered online.

I couldn't find anything at the Shoppers Drug Mart website. In the US,
it is sold at grocery stores, discount stores, pharmacies, etc. Places
like Kroger, Ralph's, Rite Aid, Target, Walmart, etc. So maybe Zellers
or Canadian Tire or who knows where.

If you're near the border, cross over and pick some up.

Any chance you're brushing too hard or too often? That plays havoc on
enamel. If your brush looks like an old broom after a few weeks,
you're brushing too hard.

Other ways to keep your teeth clean include chewing sugarless gum after
eating or eating cheese at the end of a meal. The casseins in cheese
supposedly suppress cavity bacteria. There are even chewing gums that
have these added, to improve teeth cleaning between brushing.
