Let me be the first to give the Romney/Ryan duo the clever nickname of Rymney.
It only remains to be seen if they can live up to this clever monicker

At least Mitty didn't choose Eric Cantor.

Mittens didn't choose anyone. Ryan is the Koch's boy and since they are
coughing up 400,000,000.00 to Romney's election it's no surprise he got
picked. I never thought I would actually see a presidential campaign whose
platform was the abolishment of Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid and
pretty much any program that benefits the commons. They aren't even trying
to hide their agenda anymore. And the crazy thing is - those who would
suffer the most will vote for Romney. A world order that gave Ayn Ran wet
dreams is not a place you want to live in.

You people really need to stop drinking the cool aide that Giveaway-BOB
is serving, actually FIND OUT THE FACTS as opposed to what the media is
spoon feeding you and see what the story REALLY IS.

Don't think the country can be any worse off? Vote for the Socialist
Party candidate. BOB

Ryan can do the Kochs far more good in Congress than out. Getting Ryan
out of Congress is a big break for the Dems.

I guess food stamps might be a related food topic.

At any rate, you pick either guy you vote for one of two parties that are legally bought out by much bigger money than either candidate has. R or D, we're going to get more of the same "hope and change" lines of crap while maintaing the status quo of huge Fed power and a widdling away of constitutional rights.

Right-wing theocrats are expert at doublethink. After those two
mass-murder incidents recently, the NRA talking heads claimed that
talking about changing gun laws was "disrespectful" to the victims.

Did you hear what Mrs Romney said about their income taxes? "You

Maybe p.r. means the "masses" of unemployed people who have no income
on which to pay taxes.

She said "we've given you people all you need to know." You know you are an
elite when your tax deduction for your dancing horsey is almost double the
mean wage of 98% of the country.

No *income* taxes. They pay through the nose in other taxes many of them
quite regressive.

All this "class envy" of the rich kills me. If you were rich (and smart)
wouldn't YOU also take advantage of every legal loophole available to pay as
little as you could? Of course you would. You can only blame Congress for
all of them and Congress has been mostly Democratic in the past many many
years.

And I'm not one of the rich ones. I'm in the group that gets screwed the
most. I make the very minimum of middle class but still too high to get any
poor ppl benefits.

One thing I laugh about is the now.....no abortion except in the cases of
rape or incest...from the Pubs and relgious people.

Huh? If they value the fetus so much, why would rape or incest make a
difference? I thought they cared about the unborn.

I said many many years, not just the past 18 which suits your argument.
BTW, I count 6 years in the past 18 with Democrat majority and another 4 of
50/50.

Let's take it back many many years to around when FDR was elected and many
of our welfare and tax issues progressed. My since 1937, my count is
roughly 51 years if Democrat majority and 20 years of Republican majority.
I'm a few years off with my count but you can see the slant over our
lifetimes.

I don't crave any and I've never sought them even though I would qualify for
a few at times. I prefer to pay my way through life and live on what I can
afford. All of those benefits are paid by tax money. Our taxes are way too
high and don't blame the rich for saving what they legally can.

Actually, not. I wouldn't screw every cent out of my country. I'd
make sure that I contributed to my upkeep.
You're talking about the ones who always get to the candy box first
and take all the best pieces. Not everyone is like that.
A friend, very wealthy, who owns a significant fast food chain says he
is happy to pay his taxes because he has the money to do so and his
country made it possible.

He's a wealthy business owner and probably has an accountant who does his
taxes. The accountant will do his best to reduce his taxes...that's his job.
It's all legal and no one will willingly pay more than they owe.

Of course he's glad to pay his taxes but he's not going to pay more than he
has to. Only a moron would do that.

I am shocked but not surprised.

It makes sense there would be two trust fund babies on the same

Paul Ryan used his father's SS death benefits to give himself a college
education and get started in business. Now he wants to destroy SS. They
always pull the ladder up after they have made it over the wall.

This confuses people, so I will lay it out. Survivor benefits were
added to Social Security in 1939, to make up in part for the lack of
the family wageearner's income. Children could receive them until they
turned 18, at which point they were considered old enough not to be
dependent on others to earn a living. That changed in 1965, as college
attendance became more widespread. Figuring that students were still
dependent on their parents till they completed college, the benefits
were extended till age 22, but stopped if the student dropped full-
time status.

This continued into the 1970s, but by then the dollars paid out to
college students began to look quite sizable. Eventually the Reagan
Administration proposed a bill to eliminate the benefit for college
students. No more was paid after 1985.

Ryan's father died after the phase-out, when benefits were limited to
age 18, or age 19 if the student is still in high school. So Ryan
merely squirreled away his two years of survivor benefits. Survivor
benefits amounted to what the worker would get if disabled, prorated
among the survivors.
