Here we go again...

Meanwhile, I'm going to make breakfast. I rarely make breakfast but this
morning I have a craving for 2 soft boiled eggs and a couple of slices of
buttered toast.

Two softboiled eggs OVER torn pieces of buttered toast in a bowl and
all mixed up, with S&P, has been a breakfast mainstay since I was a
little kid. Childhood comfort food.

I've always wanted to try the English version, with "toast soldiers".
That's where they take the toasted bread and cut it into long
isosceles triangle strips and dip them into the yolks of soft boiled
eggs yolks that are still in the capped eggshell sitting in their
little egg cup. Not real practical, but reeks of old high-born
English charm. ;)

(snippage)

I put the soft boiled eggs in a coffee mug, which is how my mother always
served it to me when I was a kid. She added butter, S&P, and called it "egg
a cup". The toast was on the side but I did (and do) use it to sop up the
yolk. Quite a tasty breakfast :) I don't know why I don't do this more
often.

My mom made the worst soft boiled eggs. She might as well of just
warmed the egg and said, "here, eat"!
