There are at least 30,000 recipes on the net
 

for beef curry. I thought that from the country of origin, from
India, they didn't eat steer/cow/bull. What gives? When I did my
tool and die apprenticeship in Mumbai, the only people eating beef
were Muslims. Then the rains came, the streets got flooded, and all
the manure went all over the place. It was a real sight to see. Try
wading through knee deep crap, and tell me you liked it.

And Christians--24 million of them.

Most if not all Indians with Portuguese names are Christians. You
will find many goanese beef recipes.

The Near East, Middle East and Far East all have curry recipes, not
just India.

And I'm sure lots of curry recipes have been made with beef
because other folks like and eat beef.

Beef is popular in the Kerala region. Christianity is more common there
than in other regions. A friend whose family is from there reports that
beef is popular in that region among the Hindus as well as among the
Christians and Muslims.

There is nothing to prevent Hindus from eating meat, they just
cannot kill animals to get it. Animals that are killed
accidentally can be butchered and eaten.

Curry really isn't Indian food. It was created for the British when they
colonized India in the 19th century; and it was done to create a spice that
would satisfy the British palate. I don't think the British ate beef curry
in India. They certainly do in London, at almost any Indian restaurant.
That's not true in California.

There is a large population of Indian people in my area and most of
those I know personally don't eat meat of any kind. We had a
conversation about this not long ago here and it isn't a general rule.

There are many Indians here to. In fact, I live next to an Indian
family. Many do seem to eat meat here (but not beef). There are
always abundant "veg" offerings too.
