Political Correctness Explained
An annual contest is held each year at Texas A&M University
calling for the most appropriate definition of a contemporary term. This
year's term was: "Political Correctness."

The winner, and a great definition, by a Student who wrote:

"Political correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional,
illogical minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous main stream
media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to
pick up a piece of shit by the clean end."

Excellent! I wonder if the student was Oriental.

The whole political correctness thing was certainly no more illogical
than the overtly racist extreme that it replaced. Think about this:
Hal Roach's Little Rascals shorts were shown before movies in the
1920s and '30s, except in the South, where Southern Whites objected to
the White children treating the Black children as equals. Because of
"political correctness," some material was removed in later TV airings
because of racial stereotyping. As uncomfortable as it is, I believe
that we need to honestly come to terms with racism. Personally, I'd
like every American to watch *The Birth of a Nation*, preferably in a
mixed race forum. I want to see that ugliness exposed.

I'm not quite sure what it is supposed to mean, but I was amused to find
a post from 2006 with that precise quote in it. I guess the years are a
little bigger in Texas.
