Apparently, there is a perception that nursing jobs are nowhere to be
found. It's just a dead-end career. I'd like to invite any BSNs to
send me their reume if they are willing to relocate to KY. Or you
could just stop trying to discourage a person who has just started on
a nursing career. You people are truly...pathetic.

Not relocating is one of the prime reasons I became a nurse. I
sacrifice enough of my life for the job without having to hopscotch
myself around the country chasing employment.

I'm not trying to judge you, but I'm going to go ahead and do it. You
have 3 very serviceable BS degrees, You're working in a Nursing Home.
You're unwilling to move, Could the problem be you? I'm not asking for
"hopscotch", Move once. And stop bitching. There has never been a lay
off. You apparently have a problem that makes you unemployable.

Like I told you, I've worked in long term care for decades, other facets
of nursing too. Healthcare is in deep, deep shit. If your perception is
that healthcare is in good shape and that YOUR bonus next year will be
the biggest ever, you are in healthcare administration. There is a huge
difference between your job and ours.

But kudos to you for calling a BSN a dumbass (you were recruiting me a
few posts back). Keep up the alienation!!

I've seen movies where nurses got into lots of different positions.

I think I've made it pretty clear I'm in IT. Nobody reports to me. I'm
also not a recruiter. I don't give a shit who works here. And I was
recruiting you because I knew you were talking out of your ass and
would back down in a second. Of course, if you had taken me up, I
could have given you an inside line to the right people. I have yet to
hear from one person who is so "desperate" that they would contact me
for a sure BSN job. Wow. What a tough market. I feel so sorry for you.

Now, Healthcare. Yes, Healthcare IS in deep, deep shit. It needs to be
fixed and I don't really know what that fix looks like. But if you
think it involves loss of profits, you're kidding yourself.

As for my Bonus. You're not going to believe this, but it's 100% true.
If you have old coworkers in the area they can verify. EVERY employee
gets this bonus (called "gainsharing" because we are a non-profit).
EVERY employee gets the same amount. The amount is significant but not
obscene.

You're a bitter old hag who would rather complain than do something
positive. Don't poison other peoples' dreams just because your
personality didn't allow you to get ahead.

Saint Louis MO. Home of the Barnes/Jewish/Christian Northeast (BJC)
hospital system, and it was Barnes/Jewish college (now Goldfarb School
Of Nursing) from which I got my BSN. Also a number of SSM hospitals,
the newly renamed Mercy hospital system, and St Louis University
(SLU) hospitals. We have a LOT of hospitals in STL. I applied at many,
had very few interviews, no job offers so I finally applied for and
got an offer and a job at a MO Veterans Home. Night nurse taking care
of our heroes (veterans).

Something doesn't add up and I think you know that. What do you think

The problem is I do not have a lot of contacts or connections. It's
not who you know, it's whom. And I don't know anyone. And the hiring
managers don't know me. People in charge of hiring tend to hire those
whom they know, of which I am not one.

Even the tone of your response is off-putting. There are people with
one of your three degrees that have wonderful jobs making six figures.
You need to re-examine yourself and decide what you want. There is
something about you that doesn't "smell" right. At least try to hide
it in interviews. I'm not trying to be unkind. I'm awkward myself.
Once you're hired, it doesn't matter as much. You have a BSN. Imagine
how a person with a BSN should feel and act. And do that in
interviews, even if it isn't you. You'll get in there and get the
experience you need and move on to something that fits you. But please
don't write this off as some sort of nursing career problem. The
nurses who are having problems HAVE problems that employers don't
want. Your tone here tells me you won't make the effort. You're not
hurting anyone but yourself. By the way, my mailbox is still not
overflowing with the resumes of nurses who are desperate for jobs. I
get up to $10,000 as a referral bonus for finding one of you.
Yeah...tough job market.

Sorry. I tend to go for the obvious joke. It's rarely funny and I
regret it, but there you go. I remember your post and it doesn't sound
like you're doing too badly at all. IT is tricky without a degree.
There are certain places you just can't go. But there are plenty of
places you can. Have you tried working for a consulting company? The
money can be very good and education is very rarely discussed. Of
course, I understand your main point is that you're just tired of it
and kind of wish you were in health care. If it's really what you want
you can do it. I have a coworker who is in IT but working on a BSN.
She hates IT. But she's glad to have the paycheck. Consider working at
a University. They will pay for your classes. You'll make a little
less, but it's worth it. And don't worry about not having a degree.
Universities, strangely enough, are less likely to hold that against
you. Good Luck.

Thinking can be fun, but not thinking can be fun too, or so the
truly intelligent people tell me. So whether you think I think or not
means nothing to me. But I'm not kidding, I thought it was funny, me
thinking, "What's this, a thread about nursing, this ought to be
interesting in a disturbing way", and I went in expecting the thread
to be about different positions a mother might get into to nurse a
child. I'm not fixated on tits all the time although they to have an
appeal no doubt. But I thought maybe the thread was going to be one
of those purely female threads where females go not only to help each
other but to talk about how great they are because they have
children. It's like a club when they have kids, gives them something
to talk about, not much different than the way people with very little
in common might have reason to talk with each other because they use
the same drug. Anyway, seriously, I laughed at myself for thinking
the thread was going to be about nursing children - so I don't need
anyone else to laugh at me since I already laughed at myself - but at
the same time I don't mind if people laugh at me, not at all, as long

You know how some people don't know they're *** till they're like
50 or something? Same thing with me just now when I clicked on your
link and expected to see a large pair of human female tits and instead
saw two titburn birds, or whatever they're called. As I stared at the
wondrous creature I felt a stirring in my bowels and looked down, and
lo and behold I had an erection. I never knew I was a bird lover till
now. And I never would have known were it not for you. Thank you,
thank you very much.

It's just wordplay AFAIAC. I thought you started it with a clever

You'd be amazed how many pages of images I had to go through to find a
pair of Parus maior.

When I tried to turn the adult filter on, nothing showed up.

Thanks, I'll go with that. But was it really clever? Maybe it's
the norm. How do we know the average person on the street seeing the
title "Different Nursing Positions" would not instantly assume it was
about a woman nursing a kid. I think the average person might think
it, which is not to say I'm not a unique person with my own unique
perspective - but in this case I must be modest and admit that I never
knew my comment was clever but I appreciate you saying so even if
maybe for some reason you don't mean it. Thank you - FTLOGTY

Is that why people grow up and become adults, so they can buy adult
filters? I'm glad I don't live with children or feel the need to
check on the safeness of things before allowing my children to see
them. I know what an adult filter is though. Maybe some adult/kids
things should be reversed. For instance, it's illegal to buy cigarets
when you're under 18 when it should be the other way around. Kids can
handle more, they're younger and in better shape. Let them smoke and
drink from day one, then make it illegal the day they turn 18, or 20
if you want a more liberal-sounding law in effect.

I exaggerated it for entertainment effect. I didn't really get
an erection looking at the birds, I just said that to shock people. I
did feel a slight stirring in the groin area though. It was sort of a
cross between sexual yearning and the desire to eat. That's what I
felt when I looked at the birds. I wonder, if the world were ever
reduced to only humans and no other animals, and if we resorted to
cannibalism to stay alive - I wonder if at that point one human might
look at another and see not a living thing but a slab of meat that
makes them drool the way a cat drools looking a bird through the
window.

As much as I enjoy the infinite variety of breast sizes and shapes, I
was impatiently looking for pictures of the birds to make my joke
attempt work. Figuring that the adult filter would save time by
filtering out all the naked boobies, I turned it on. But not a single
image made it through.

I've been toying with this idea: Once I turn 80, I will start abusing
what's left of my body. Cigars, cigarettes, hookahs, hashish, opium,
the whole range. By the time it affects my health I expect to be dead.

Excellent philosophy. But, there is always the doubt once the
life-crushing binge begins that maybe 80 isn't old enough, that maybe
you should wait till you're 90 to do it. It's like someone who
carries a cyanide pill every time they take a plane. In case it
starts going down, instead of having a heart attack or burning alive,
they pop the pill and die with less agony. But at the moment they are
to take the pill they are filled with doubt, wondering whether there
is still a chance the plane might right itself and re-gain control, so
they hesitate to take the pill.

I thought something along the lines of your philosophy when it
comes to AIDS. I think the gestation period of AIDS is like 20
years. So once you get to 60 or thereabouts you don't have to worry
that someone you're screwing might have AIDS. They can even open
special AIDS Hotels for people who already have it and also for people
who don't have it but are getting so advanced in years that they no
longer consider it a major risk.

One positive of aging is the older you get the more likely things
you buy will last a lifetime.

Dunno SpamTrap! This case apparently says something for healthy
octogenarian living:

Well, whatever it is, it's a long gestation period, I know that.
Anyway, it's not about AIDS, it's about healthy living and how it's
odd how those under 18 or 21 years of age are not allowed to legally
smoke or drink, yet adults are allowed to do such childish things.
Maybe we should keep it as it is - no smoking or drinking till one is
18 or 21 - then make it illegal again when they hit age 50. That way
they get a 30 year period to see how hard a pounding their bodies can
take. The first 18 years of life can be spent doing healthy things
such as staying active, getting one's self ready for the rigors of
smoking and drinking during the legal years. And then when they hit
fifty they have to put it down by law. ........... Yes, even when I
sent that post with the 20 year gestation period quote I had a feeling
someone might challenge it, because I don't know the real number - but
I do know that as far as diseases or illnesses go it's a long one.
Anyway, regardless of the technicalities, the point is there comes a
time in one's life when they know they have less time and could afford
to flirt with diseases that have gestations periods longer than what
remains of their lives. I think the concept is funny. What are you,
some kind activist or something looking for an argument?

HIV progression to AIDS and death can be less than a year. The "average"
is 10 years but that could be more because of better medical treatments
than any natural disease progression.

If you don't know the number and are too lazy to look up some facts, why
post obvious crap onto a forum. It seems that not only do you not know
much, you are unwilling to learn. I find that very sad.

By your "flirting" with diseases as you age, you may end up exposing
younger members of your family or friends to significant risks. Why
would any sane person want to do that? Please note that HIV/AIDS is not
the only serious disease out there. There are some that spread far more
easily and can have equally devastating effects on human health.

This is true except for one thing. As I age I also get rid of
all my friends either through them dying or me just wanting to die
alone. There are no younger members of my family, I made sure of
that. I didn't kill them, they just never existed, which was fine
with me. So your logic might apply to those who fit your family-
oriented description, but it does not apply to this orphan of the
world, and besides, for the last time, I was trying to be funny.
Whether it was funny or not to you is another matter. I'm done with
the AIDS Hotel concept as well as the concept of initiating sex with
an AIDS patient once I hit a certain age when I know I won't out-live
it's gestation period. I'll be dead before it comes to life. As for
passing things along to children, have you considered the negative
effects of taking anti-depressants and passing the addiction on to
them? I believe this can happen just as easily as the child of a
heroin or coke addict can be born with the same addiction. I'm not
passing on any diseases unless masturbation becomes suddenly
contagious.

Yes, but I don't have those diseases and I'm not passing anything
on to anyone else because I'm too cheap to share anything with
anybody, except for an occasional piece of humor that once again goes
unnoticed as such. Thanks a lot.

Pass it on,
TJ
