You shouold have an icon for it on the desktop. If not, make one. Right click on the open desktop, choose properties --> desktop --> customize desktop and then click on the checkbox for "my documents". Then navigate to your My Pictures folder, assuming that is where they are. Then keep navigating to the folder you have the files stored in. Then select them holding down the CTRL button and clicking one at a time on the files you want to select. Then just press the delete key. Paul |

Everything goes to the Recycle Bin, I clear that, then find everything back in My Documents, marked. e.g., copy of copy of copy John Doe (15). Rather than be on rec.food.cooking, anyone can e-mail me at limey108 at verizon dot net, so I don't get everyone mad with this OT problem. Thanks! Dora |

This tells Windows you want to make a copy. So it obliges you. It happens all the time. What you can do is to click on EDIT in the toolbar, then choose select all. Then UNselect the files you want to keep, one at a time. Then delete the remaining selected files. Helps to sort them in the window first. Paul |

Here's what else you can do. Under view, choose icons. Now sort by name so the files you want to delete are more or less all together. Then you can hold down the left mouse button and drag to select the files you want to include. Then press DEL or right click on the selected area and choose delete. Paul |

Sometimes my photo editor makes duplicates instead of deleting too, but I can delete just fine if I bypass it and use windows. I think whoever talked about making a new folder had the right idea. Make a new folder, use the ctrl button to select and move them over to the new folder as a batch, then delete the entire folder. -- Today's mighty oak is just yesterday's nut that held its ground. |

This is the kind of OT that people can learn from. Pretend they are pictures of food and now it's on topic. ![]() -- Today's mighty oak is just yesterday's nut that held its ground. |
