My personal view is that those on the right talk a lot about their
constitutional rights while those on the left tend to be concerned about
the constitutional rights of others.

No. Politics and the government trough lead to corruption. Politicians
need support to win an election and they need money to run a campaign to
win that support. The big donors want something in return for their
donations.
