I didn't even notice the words "free range" on any egg carton when I
bought eggs there this week - but I was looking for extra large, not
free range.

I haven't had that experience, so again... it's where you shop.

TJ's cut cheeses usually have off flavors.
I stopped buying them after I had to throw
one out as inedible. I believe it's the
plastic wrap they use -- either the off flavor
is coming from the plastic itself or the wrap
is allowing off flavors to permeate through.

Never again.

That hasn't been my experience.

I heard that they didn't keep the cheese-cutting/wrapping surfaces cleaned
off properly. Again, the prepackaged ones like the goat cheese logs or the
cream cheese in boxes are fine. (TJ's is where I usually buy those - good
price, etc.)

Some of the cut cheeses are (IMO) tasty party treats so I just swoop in
shortly beforehand and purchase them.

I had a wedge of Gruyere that lasted for a while but I don't recall its
original packaging.
