Just returned from the Tar - jay, looking at the receipt I see that ILLANNOY taxes food @ 2.25%...natcherly Illannoy taxes the hell out of everything, that is why it is a dying state...we've a state income tax, too...thank you DUMBOCRATS...!!! Bought a cereal bowl, that was taxed @ 10.00%, if it was the city of Chicawgo you'd pay several percentage points more... Many Chicagoans make trips outside of Cook County, especially to Indiana, for vittles. likker, gas, smokes, everything...they save many bux. Peeps are fleeing to states like Indiana, Tennessee, Texas, etc....eventually they get tired of paying for others' fiscal mismanagement...Democrats here are a bunch of ****ing THIEVES... -- Best Greg |

Morons. Cigarettes are taxed because they're so bad for you. Why not tax clearly unhealthy food? Not peanuts or popcorn, but coca cola, fast food etc. |

They tax *everything*. They charge state income tax too. "Leave no stone unturned." I looked again at my grocery store receipt. Not only did I pay the 2.5% tax on all food, but there was one item....precooked tempura chicken nuggets from the deli. They were leftover from the day before so I bought a small container at a reduced price. For that one pre-cooked item, the tax was 5.5% . To my knowledge, the only things NOT taxed in Virginia is drugs, both prescription and OTC. |

If you evade all taxes, the rest of us have to pay more. Seems even the most honest people think evading taxes is ok to do, but your share has to be made up by others. Most of the big internet sellers are collecting taxes now rather than fight the states in court. |

I'd rather internet sites collected the tax instead of me feeling a little guilty about not filling out that line on my tax form. Sorry, I am not about to keep track of everything I buy online and account for it at the end of the year. I know it's a hassle out of proportion for small online sellers. nancy |

We've never bought the 28 pounder, we buy a 40 pounder, five sacks per month. https://www.chewy.com/frisco-fresh-s...ping/dp/133043 Plus we subscribe to AutoShip so they take 10% off our entire order, which is a substantial discount. And since we are a good steady cutomer they include cat treats and cat toys gratis, and sometimes include samples of new cat products. I suppose if someone has only one cat they may as well buy from their local market but we have five indoor cats and several ferals outdoors. We use a lot of litter, two extra large pans indoors and three extra large outdoors; one in the barn, one in the gardening shed, and one under our deck. The ferals use those pans rather than do their business on the crushed stone foor. |

In shell peanuts and popping corn are considered Produce (no tax) but soda has been taxed in NY for as long as I can remember. If popcorn is already popped then it's taxed like chips. It ****es me off that NY taxes pet food, but Chewys does not. The greedy asshole polititions tax TP too... pays their over inflated salaries. |

Amazon has been collecting NY sales tax for months, but they found a way around it.... they allow customers to choose a tax free charity to donate to and meanwhile they discount their prices, so in effect the customer pays no tax... they collect the tax but it's offset by the discount. The brick and mortars are for the most part disappearing, and about time, they've been ripping off customers since forever. |

I think what you call feral cats are domesticated cats that ran away or whose owner died or moved and left them behind. |

The percentage is at their descertion, can normaly be 5%-10% depending on total, we always get 10% because our monthy bill runs over $300. >> And since we are a good steady cutomer they include cat treats and cat >> toys gratis, and sometimes include samples of new cat products. >> I suppose if someone has only one cat they may as well buy from their >> local market but we have five indoor cats and several ferals outdoors. >> We use a lot of litter, two extra large pans indoors and three extra >> large outdoors; one in the barn, one in the gardening shed, and one >> under our deck. Saves us from having to clean our barn and gardening shed floors, we find it well worth it. And we spend about $100 a month on litter. Everyone has different priorities, we wouldn't spend a dime for a ticket to a sporting event, but we'd spend many hundreds of dollars on Vet bills to save our pets. Many years ago I spent nearly $3,000 on Vet bills to save Jilly... she's now 18 years old and doing great... she's paid back that investment manyfold in pleasure. I got your number dwarf, it's very fortunate that you have no children, you'd not pay $5 on medical to save them.... just keep stealing from that fercocktah rip off food bank. |

Mostly ferals don't use a litter pan but they do use the pans in our barn and gardening shed... better than them using those crushed stone floors. As soon as we noticed that they were using the floors we gave them litter pans and they use them. |
