Default Autism and hormones injected into beef, chicken etc...

Probaly not a new theory, but it worries me for my children,
grandchildren and soon to be grandchild . I can't afford 'organic'
food - as they cannot either. What a crap shoot.

Lanie... nobody can "inject" autism into meat.... but animals are fed
growth hormones. Google information about it and don't get all
weirded out about that theory before you gather some facts. Here's a
good place to start. http://beef.unl.edu/FAQ/200807020.shtml

I think it's the fluoride in drinking water. (or maybe the Vitamin D
added to milk) HTH :-)

The biggest correlation seems to be older parents. Need to squeeze them
out while you're still young and the parts still work properly I
guess...

Isn't a theory, and barely makes it as a hypothesis.

The guy who faked the research about vaccines and autism should be
hanged by the neck until dead.
It should be done on live TV. They should strip him first so he shits
himself publicly. He is a murderer.

I'm betting a site like the Beef Cattle Production would be clearly
biased.

Don't feed them any beef, chicken etc... They aren't necessary to a
decent diet.

If your children and grandchildren are over the age of 3 or 4 years and
don't exhibit symptoms of autism, they aren't likely to develop them in
the next year or two. Some diagnoses are made as late as school-age but
the symptoms appeared earlier than that.

Since autism seems to run in some families, there is the genetic
component to consider as well.

It's the internet that cried wolf. You may have gotten the
story mixed up or your source got the story mixed up. It's supposed to
be vaccines that are responsible for the rise in autism. My guess is
that either is not the cause of autism but it could be that fear of
vaccination is probably responsible for a few, if not many deaths of
kids. Your best bet is to investigate any legitimate medical studies in
this area and forget about internet chatter.

The cause of autism isn't known, yet. Nor is there a 'cure' for many
cancers, yet. Not too long ago, child abductions were not typically
reported or covered by the media as they are today (thank goodness for
Amber Alerts in the USA!). Perhaps the same thing applies with autism?

The theory that vaccines may be a potential cause of autism has been
debunked. It's been reported the scientist who did the research into
the so-called link of vaccines to autism fabricated the results of his
research. IOW, he fudged the data. Just Google "scientist autism
debunked" <---- there will be many citations & links.

The vaccine theory was de-mythed many months ago. However, it would
seem that many more children are being diagnosed with autism, I was
simply wondering out loud if it was something dietary. Not unlike
young girls reaching puberty earlier than they did even a decade ago.

I never did believe that vaccines had anything to do with autism.

Something dietary is simply people eating too much. More body fat at a
younger age means higher sex hormone production and earlier puberty.
Autism has been linked to more socially awkward people meeting up and
mating, the "geek syndrome". No foods involved.

My guess is that the rise in autism is partially due to Aspergers
Syndrome being the latest, greatest, thing in disorders and many kids
that would normally be just geeks are being classified as autistic. As a
kid, I was geeky, today I totally could be labeled as autistic. Close
call, man!

I don't know about that. I'm an older parent and I know quite a few older
ones. None of us have autistic kids. The autistic boy I do know of has
fairly young parents. I don't think Jenny McCarthy is all that old or was
when she had her son. Neither were John Travolta and Kelly Preston.

I didn't say all were older, just that seems to be the biggest
correlation.

The other correlation seems to relate to parenting skills or lack
thereof, mostly self absorbed parents who paid little attention to their
kids until they were diagnosed as autistic and therefore trendy at which
point the parents look to place blame on some big company in hopes of
profiting, and/or uses the kit to get attention for themselves.

I'm not disputing growth hormones... what I'm disputing is "autism".

It's not dietary, it's genetic. Autism, like learning disabilities
and speech disorders are a brain "wiring" issue, aka: neurological.

What, people can't blame autism on vaccines any more so they're grasping

Autism is really the once dormant alien gene beginning to emerge after
thousands of centuries. When enough of the "autistic population" reaches a
critical mass the ships will come to take them home.

I'm betting you're an idiot if you think eating beef (or any other thing)
causes autism.

Many more people are being diagnosed with lots of things. It's called
advanced research and testing. Greater understanding of certain medical
illnesses. 30 years ago my father would simply have been called a doddering
old man. Now we know he had dementia, which is a legitimate medical
condition. Why are you so concerned about autism? Does it run in your
family?

Knowingly faking research that has cause thousands of children to skip
immunizations leads to children dying. Children too young to get the
vaccine are protected by herd immunity. Scientists who fake research,
and convince ignorant parents not to vaccinate their children, are no
better than someone who gives a child a loaded gun to play with.

Pretty simple, his fraud caused a large number of less intelligent
parents to not vaccinate their children, and as a result, a number of
those children died from vaccine preventable diseases.

Fluoride in drinking water has been validly linked to increased levels
of toxic compounds in the drinking water, particularly in areas with old
pipes and more for the fluoride to react with. Fluoride is itself a
toxic compound, so there are valid concerns with that one.

Now you're making it look like a good thing, weeding the children of
"less intelligent parents" out of the gene pool.

Malnutrition during early childhood is well proven to cause lifelong
neurological problems, stunted growth, lower IQ, etc. It is certainly
within the realm of possibility that something dietary could relate to
autism, though I would expect that diet has been investigated in autism
cases and I've not heard any reports of any correlation there.

It's also possible that a particular chemical exposure (and the chemical
may not be man made) that has become increasingly common in recent
decades (like corn or soy derivatives in everything) may trigger an
adverse reaction in susceptible individuals. A genetic linked
susceptibility coupled with exposure to the trigger at the right time in
brain development might well be the cause. Those without the genetic
susceptibility may be fine, and those with the genetic susceptibility
may be fine if they are not exposed to the trigger during the critical
time period.

My take on what parents should do while we wait for some definitive
scientific results is to ensure your children eat a well balanced diet
of as natural foods as possible, and stay away from any processed foods
including "baby food" during the critical years. We know that autism
doesn't develop after the first few years, so it would seem prudent to
limit exposure to potential triggers during that time.

If you chose to have a child you knew it was a huge financial
responsibility, so don't whine that you can't afford to provide the best
food for them for a few years. Sacrifice your own diet for those years
if need be, but do what you can to ensure your child makes it through
the critical brain development years with the best possible diet.

Thanks for looking that up. I was just about to. If sf doesn't like
"murderer", how about "murder for hire"? He received about $650,000 for
providing "proof" of a link between MMR vaccination and autism, so that
lawyers could try to sue the manufacturers. He had a sample size of 12
patients, and changed all their records. Somebody went back and
documented that he had forged the data. He has lost his medical license.

Many children died because they weren't vaccinated. The progress in
finding out what really causes autism was diverted.

Actually, vitamin D may be helpful to this.

Heh! I am interested because my daughter is an Aspie. I have
never heard the speculation put forth by the OP. And I probably
pay more attention to these things than the average realtively
disinterested person does.
