chicken soup for the sick

Struggle out of bed
Go to store for chicken that doesn't need to be defrosted
Go to second store, since legs were way too overpriced at first store
- buy roaster at $1.25 pound
Go home; roast chicken, separate meat,
Make stock with bones, onion, celery tops, fennel seed, garlic -
whatever
Strain stock, make soup with carrots, onions, potatoes and rice. Add
some evaporated milk, chicken and parsley to finish.. Had a bowl.
Wish my taste buds were working. Back to bed....e.

That would make a good blues tune.

A good friend would drive 30 miles at 2:00 am to bail you out of jail.
A best friend, however, would be sitting in the cell next to you saying
"Man, that was f******n Awesome!"

It's been a few years since I tried it, but I think a whole frozen
Cornish game hen simmered with celery scraps, onion roots and skins,
bayleaf, peppercorns, and a chicken bouillon cube makes a pretty good
base for a pot of soup, and you don't have to thaw it first. So you
can buy them on sale and keep a few in the freezer for soup emergencies.

Hope you're feeling better soon.

Chicken soup with evaporated milk is enough to make a person sick.

Tell you what'd be really sick, chicken soup that has the chicken
heads in it.

My friend and I went into a locals bar in Mazatlan, Mexico. We each
ordered a beer, and guess what came with it? A bowl of chicken soup
each, with chicken feet in it and a stack of tortillas. The soup was
good, but I didn't touch the feet.
And also, whenever we had a chicken paprikash on my Godfather's farm,
they would stew one of their chickens that they raised. My Godfather
and my uncle used to fight over who got to eat the head complete with
comb.

Someday I wanna make chicken soup with large tapioca pearls in it
instead of rice and call it "chicken eye soup". I've been saying that
for a couple of years and still haven't tried it yet...

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

The main problem is that the tapioca pearls degrade badly over time, so
you'd have to eat it all quickly or you'd end up with a gummy mess. Still,
it's a great idea. Might even work with Israeli couscous.

Now you've gone and revealed that Israeli couscous is really a bunch
of secret nano-cameras. There goes your security clearances. Wait,
maybe I've been watching too many old episodes of Mission Impossible.

And you ate it, too. Talk about "Bottom of the barrel" cuisine,
frozen pizza if pretty low.

It certainly wasn't very good because the crust was crappy. Still, it
wasn't "'Bottom of the barrel' cuisine," and I wasn't pretending that
it was anything but.

But you mentioned it while disrespecting someone else's tastes.
