Defrosted Beef Rump Steaks (not of the highest quality)....

Tell me ...Please.... I have just defrosted 780g of beef rump steak....Not
the top quality steak either...... I have already defrosted it, then my son
rang to ask if it was OK to not come home for dinner...... I only like Rump
Steak when it is fresh from the butchers, and not frozen...... I have
defrosted 2 Pork Mid Loin Chops for myself tonight..... I have returned the
rump steak to the fridge to use tomorrow...... Any good idea's ?....

It's chilly there, right? Cut the steak into good-sized chunks and braise
with onions, parsnips, and Guinness.

Or substitute carrots for the parsnips, and use the beer for drinking
instead.

1.7 pounds? could be pot roasted or braised in one piece. But also an
oven roasting on a bed of chopped veggies (celery, carrots, onions, with
a bit of water just to cover the veggies and the seasoned and/or
marinated steak placed on top of the water covered veggies and roasted,
basting occasionally.

The sauce that can be made from the replenished as needed, remaining
cooking liquid (strained, pressed, defatted & seasoned) is worth using
this roasting technique for large steaks.

Stew. Pot roast. Grind it for hamburgers. Mince for Spaghetti sauce.
Roast, seasoned highly with onion and garlic and oregano and slice
thinly for sandwiches on hard rolls au jus with the resulting drippings
made into gravy.

Thanks for all the suggestions from all.......

I had a couple of good idea's from alt.chat.cooking that seem good .....
I was going to cook it tonight, but decided at the last minute to cook
Lamb Rumps instead (Lamb Rump Steaks are actually the good
'Chump Chops' from lamb that have the bone removed and the
fat mostly cut off.... They are very tender meat......

I now intend to 'Slow Cook' the beef rumps tomorrow instead.....

The Lamb Rumps I had tonight, I marinated in a Teriyaki Marinade, together
with some fresh lemon juice and Rosemary.... I then BBQ'ed them and served
with minted green peas, Honeyed Carrots and Buttered Corn Kernels....
Yummmmm.....
