It would be good if you could post these long URLs without line-feeds,
unlike what I received as above. You can edit out the linefeed or go to
www.recfoodcooking and track down signature dishes.

My line length is set to 72 characters. In spite of the wrap, my
newsreader opened it without hesitation or adjustment. Sorry yours
doesn't. :-(

Much like the fact not everyone likes beets, not everyone has the same
OS or browser that works for you.

If you really want to make sure everyone can easily reach a link you
post, use this:

http://tinyurl.com/

.....or not.

Or you can use snipr which I prefer.

Or you can be angle brackets at both ends <http://www.website.com>
which most browser's understand.

It is not consistent and most longer URLs do come thro' in a usable
fashion. My edited reply to Melba's post is a case in point. Did others
receive my version satisfactorily as I did?

Yours was fine. I don't know why one broke and the other didn't.

Bopping through those recipes was quite a nice walk down Memory Lane,
even though I have the cookbook.

Yes it did. This has come up in other groups I read. I'm sure
there's other instances but the ones I've seen have all been posted
with MT-newswatcher. The links break with many windows readers and
even on google. If they even quote a useable link it will still break
when posted with MT. I have no problem with Mac, MT, or its users but
the JamLady is the only one I'll bother with putting a link back
together for. And even then only if it's something I think I might be
interested in. Tiny URL only takes a few seconds.

It may be that your server or newsreader added the linefeeds. It worked
fine for me with YA-NW on OS X.

the angle-bracket thing usually works for me (40tude dialog), and i use it
when i post, but for some reason with this one post of yours it did not.

but it requires not much wit to cut and paste something that works.

It requires the same wit to post a useable link.

Doesn't

work for me. There's a hard-return put in at the break point. Naughty
mt-newswatcher!

Say, Melba:

We've conversed before on Mac stuff, mostly iWeb, on comp.sys.mac.apps.

You can use TinyUrl or Snipr, but this is much cooler:

http://tinyurl.com/b8jw2

TinyMe is an applescript. When you find a website you want to
"miniaturize" for distribution, go to the Script menu, and click
Safari's listed applescript, TinyMe.

It then snatches the current site, sends it to TinyURL for a short url,
puts the short-link in your paste-buffer. You can then paste it in
your post.

Actually, I use QuicKeys and it does all that for me with a single stroke.
