Default Mouth hurting

Ignore. Just venting. Braces adjusted again and my whole mouth is
throbbing. I will never ignore a child who says their braces hurt ever. I
couldn't even bite into a sandwich right now if I wanted to. But the good
thing is that it's been 17 months now, so there should be an end soon.

i think you could get into trouble giving a kid brandy just because he says
his braces hurt.

I agree. I believe in the tried and true old remedies. Just give 'em
laudanum, it's got less alcohol in it.

My braces hurt like when I was a kid, so I know.

Try ibuprofen or Naproxyn.

I'm going to be spelling cop. It's naproxen. I understand one
possible source of the mistake. Naproxen sodium is the generic for
Anaprox, the precursor of which was Naprosyn. Anaprox is the sodium
salt of naproxen, which I think is absorbed more quickly.

And that stuff works like crap for me.
My drug of choice is Ibuprofen.

Why suffer?

It;'s not a "no pain no gain, game". The adjustments will work just
the same if you're numbed up :-) Ask for Norco. Or heck, just get
some Demerol.

I know what you mean. I used to get headaches at the drop of a hat
and popped aspirin at the first twinge, but using a pain med such as
Demerol for something like that is analogous to using a jack hammer
when tweezers will do.

A visit to the Crystal Palace works wonders with tooth pain, any
pain... a good stiff one will make you forget what ails you. hehe

why the hell not get a narcotic if it's indicated? i don't think your
teeth will be any straighter out of respect for your suffering.

OUCH! I remember that particular sort of pain! It'll diminish quickly,
although not fast enough, eh!

I remember being a kid and having to wear that horrible old fashioned
harness when I went to bed. TG I didn't have to go through the
embarrassment of wearing it during the day. Yes, my teeth hurt after
the braces were adjusted but at least I had the satisfaction of
ripping if off and throwing it across the room.

Cheryl, I sympathize. I was one of those kids whose mouth was too
small for the size teeth I had.
They had to pull two uppers and two lowers to make room to straighten
out the rest of the teeth.
I wore braces from the time I was 7 till I was 14. I had a couple of
teeth that came in almost sideways
because it was so crowded in there.

Just about the time the soreness finally went away, it was back to get
another adjustment.
In those days your mouth looked like a metal factory. I never smiled
in any school picture till
high school.

It was all worth it though. My teeth are fabulous now!!!! :-)

I'm glad to hear you are almost done with it. You are going to be
gorgeous when it's all over.

I also remember them digging into the cheeks. Try taking some powdered
alum and putting it on those spots. It will take the pain out of them.

Placing a whole clove between the cheek and gum relieves pain... some
pharmacies sell oil of cloves... just do NOT get any on your delicate
mucosa... it'll make habanero seem like cold cream.
