Who do you want to see your photos? A couple people here post pics of
food to alt.binaries.food. Check it out; maybe that would be a place
for you. What about Picasa?

Since my foods look so good that I want the whole world to see, I would like
to put photos online that I can link out of my website to without building
another complete website.

Which ones do you suggest? Rather than something like tinyurl that has some
limits on the size and text. I use flickr now, and it has a space for
description. I wouldn't know how many pics and recipes I could put a month
without getting over the line and into more money until I do it, but it
seems like quite a few.

Other options? Maybe a site where they have free or cheap parking, and it
would help me affiliate market with them?

TIA

Om and I have used Picasa.com to post pictures here. I have no idea
how that works for website linking. Photobucket.com is another
option. Google "image hosting free photo sharing" and see what turns
up.

Quite a few ISPs have discontinued alt.binaries.food, my own ISP
included.

The offer to use my Usenet account for alt.binaries food, while not
available to Steve B and a few others, is still open for trusted
posters (and readers).

I've had the account for maybe a year, have 3 or 4 people using it,
and these are the bandwidth stats so far:

Total: 30.0000 GB
Used: 0.7662 GB
Left: 29.2338 GB

As you can see it's more than I need. I plan on leaving this world
debt-free and broke and having bandwidth left in my Usenet account
will screw up that plan. Email me if you'd like to receive
alt.binaries.food.

Well, Picassa albums work for me and contrary to popular belief, you do
NOT have to download the Picassa software! All you need is a gmail
address.

Follow the link in my sig and see what you think.:-)

Here's one of a few of the wonderful things about FB.

http://www.reuters.com/article/idUSTRE62G5A420100318

We've got a friend who's computer has been taken over and nobody can
figure it out but it seems to be another FB issue. There's another
one that wants you to update flashplayer but it's a bogus link. I
caught it but Louise didn't and now we're trying to clean up
computers.

Gotta just love facebook.

Well, I guess it does if you set the permissions to "Everyone" for the
photo. Your choice, of course.

BTW, checking out the comments: were those made by *the* Sheryl Rosen
who has been, um... 'the subject of much discussion' here over the
years?

I was actually being "facetious" (guess some folks missed that silly
pun) about putting up personal photos (etc.) on FB. I'm FB's number
one "non-fan" (or at least in the Top 10). I think the whole setup
sucks... Anyway, that's besides the point; I'm sorry you now have to
clean up the mess. Good luck.

There is a "public link" that you can post which doesn't give the
public permission to view anything other than that picture.

Ah, thanks - so now I can put a face to the name.

BTW, talking about Sheryl - has anybody heard from her 'arch enemy' Greg

Your loss. TinyPic doesn't keep your link valid very long. Facebook
can be used to post pictures like Picasa, Photobucket, Flikr and all
those other online photo sharing sites. Nobody is twisting your arm
to join FB and only the clueless have a problem with viewing a FB
public link. Get over it or don't view FB links. It's your choice.
Either way, the rhetoric is ridiculous.

Here is what you *should* see. You see the picture with an option to
join above. http://i39.tinypic.com/mlmczn.jpg

FB must not be friendly to your Mac's browser. I know I have to
switch over to IE or use my IE tab plug-in to do a lot of things that
should be dead easy with plain ole Firefox.

I read the above article. There was no mention of information obtained
from Facebook, or any use of Facebook. It's just another phishing
attempt.

I am getting more and more wary about Facebook. The basic Facebook is
fine, but I will no longer use any user applications. As soon as
something asks permission to access my information, I say "no" and close
it down. I need to be more careful about opening URLs also.

Oh, god no and I ignore all of those requests to join some game or
another. Not only do those apps have your profile information, you
also have to spend money to get ahead in the game. No thanks! I have
better ways to spend my money than throw it away playing some game.

Have you gone to your application settings to deny them there too?
You might say "no" in one place but you need to deny all access.

>I need to be more careful about opening URLs also.

We all do, but I scan with a malware detector every so often and my AV
scans daily. The AV also scans sites when I bring them up on a Google
page (Google prescreens too), but I haven't figured out if I can get
my free version of AVG to scan individual sites... like those I see
posted here. I wish site scanning was available as a right click
option! I've been very lucky. In over ten years, I've only had two
minor problems (so minor they didn't have names) hanging out in the
depths of my computer. Knock on wood.

I'm not a FB fan either and I remember now you don't like it either.
I got an account to see what it was about and couldn't believe the way
people acted. The "dear diary" thing is pretty childish. The
negatives of FB are mentioned frequently on all the major news
channels but folks just keep posting away stupid shit. Most of the
negative press is about carrier and security issues but negative
social aspects get overlooked.

Call is whatever you want but I've got a dozen emails from the same
person in the last week and he sent none of them. The same stuff went
to the 300 contacts in his address book. My point was simply FB is
one more place for problems to enter your life.

Same here, I do not open any more applications, I just don't have time
anymore. My family and friends are on FB and I enjoy keeping in touch,
seeing their photos and videos.

Why would you want a bigger picture of her? Her face is big enough
as it is. I've never snatched a picture from FB so I tried it. Blow
it up a bit and you'll see the cat has a weird ring around it's eyes
and lots of gobbledy-gook crusty shit on it's right eye and some other
nasty discoloration going on. But unlike sheryl at least it only has
one chin.

You're not paranoid but barbara llorunt is a nutjob. You can view
threads wondering about him in chi.general. I've been reading his
posts there and here since the mid 90's. He may morph to **** with
people HERE but it's still always Greg and he makes it known. He's
gone missing. I hope he's ok and returns to usenet soon even though
many folks don't like him. Sheldon is a jerk-off but when he went
missing a few years ago people missed him too.

One of the computers here at work got hit with that Flash update thing too,
but I got it cleaned off almost immediately. If you Google for the name of
the infestation (koobface? something like that), you can find procedures for
getting rid of it.

I've been cleaning computers for the last week at work. And it's
not even supposed to my job. All a user has to do is say "yes" to
some bogus popup from any of the numerous sites and it disables the
Symantec Endpoint protection client and starts jizzing all over the
place. I'm think something is pretending to be a Java Update, is
all I've noticed without being there.

Nobody will tell me what they were doing at the exact time of the
infection so I just enabled process and file access auditing all on
the computers at my office. Either the users or the viruses are
eliminating all browsing history.

I just clean them all out manually using file dates/times and Mike
Lin's Startup Monitor. Don't know what or who they are but I've
turned off all Internet access on some of those computers.

I have had two viruses in my whole life but never used any
protection. One was packaged on the CD as the driver for my
Creative Soundblaster, distributed by Creative Software themselves.

I think the name was Creative labs back then.

You're very active on FB... a regular poster child for the way it
*should* work!

Well, that's a weird sort of reasoning in my book... Just because a
regular poster drops out of the group does not necessarily mean that
they're posting under another nickname. They could just be tired of the
crap that often goes on here, too busy in Real Life to post, away on
vacation, ill or (God forbid) no longer alive; remember how shocked a
lot of us were about Blinky's passing?

And, as others in this group have already pointed out, although Greg is
notorious for changing his nick just to take the **** out of certain
posters/threads, he always lets us know it's him. He does this by
either using his usual email address in the headers or (for those who
are too stupid/can't be bothered to read the headers) he signs his
posts "Greg" in the body of the message.

Yep. I've noticed that (most) posters who don't usually 'get along'
here, will still offer sympathy and/or help if somebody they claim to
dislike falls ill and/or has personal problems.

They have a "dear diary" thing now? Good grief.

Heh. Too true. Sometimes people are friendly and polite on FB, and
sometimes not - just like here <eg>. Case in point; think I've
mentioned this before, but one of my son's friends had a 'disagreement'
with his girlfriend (GF). GF then proceeded to post all the gory
details of said disagreement (including rather personal photos) to
everybody she knows on FB... Social networking site, my foot. It's just
another place on the 'net to trash other people, IMO.

And getting back to the OP's question; there are thousands of free photo
sharing sites out there which are all much of a muchness, so just pick
one, any one.
