Hp Brown Sauce

Hopefully someone in Canada can help me - I am trying to get my hands
on some bottles of HP Brown Sauce - the stuff from England. I can
not get any here in the USA and the British on line companies only
sell the little bottles for an extortionate price. I have seen the big
plastic bottles of HP (990ML) in Vancouver etc but now my stash is
running out. Anyone know whom I might contact in order to replenish my
supply. On line or a store direct?

Thanks

The web site is:
http://www.hpfoods.com/brands/hpsauce/

This is how to duplicate it at home.

Brown Sauce (HP Sauce type)

This sauce can be filled into sterilized jars or kept in fridge
indefinitely.
Makes 3 kg (6½ lb)
Apples - 1.8 kg (4 lb), peeled, cored and sliced
Prunes - 450g (1 lb) stoned and sliced
Onions - 2 large, peeled and diced
Malt vinegar - 1.7 liters (3 pints)
Ground ginger - 2 tsp
Grated nutmeg - 1 tsp
Ground allspice - 1 tsp
Cayenne pepper - 1 tsp
Salt - 8 tbsp
Sugar - 900g (2 lb)

METHOD

Put the fruit and onions into a large pan and cover with water. Cook until
tender. Liquidise or sieve into a large saucepan.

Add the malt vinegar, ginger, nutmeg, allspice, cayenne pepper, salt, and
sugar. Cook on a low heat until reduced and thick.

Enjoy

Where do you live? There are plenty of British Food places in California.
U.S. made HP Sauce is available just about everywhere, but the UK made sauce
is more difficult to find outside British Food stores. There are a couple of
British Food online places that have decent prices. The stuff made in New
Jersey is going to be a lot cheaper than the UK made HP Sauce. The price
rise for HP has risen since they started making it in the US. The US made
sauce is not as good as the UK sauce.

For your possible interest, check:

I am lucky to have a British Grocery here in Sandy Eggo. If you run into
difficulty finding UK made HP Sauce, let me know and I will ship you a large
bottle.

BTW, I like Daddy's Sauce too. If you think HP is hard to find, try finding
Daddy's!
