I hear it's popular in the big city Chinese restaurants.

Bash in the skull of one of those curs of uncertain parentage that craps
on your lawn and barks 24 hrs per day. One that is owned by some
inconsiderate asshole that chains one of these useless creatures to a tree
and feeds it better than residents of most third world countries. Roadkill
is an acceptable alternative. Skin and gut the thing and cut it up into stew
size pieces. Tenderize with a tire iron. Make a stew with root vegetables or
cook Chinese style in a wok.

sometime in the early seventies there was a story in *the village
voice* about a man who shot a dog because the dog shat every day in
the doorway of his building. it was accompanied by a recipe for
'sweet and sour doberman.'

Somewhere not far south of me, there was a story about a missing dog,
it was found, tied to a tree, no food/water, and a guy was beating it
with a shovel.

I didn't have to read another word to figure out, the idiot owners
left it in the yard to bark and bark and bark and ... geez people,
SHUT UP YOUR DOG. Sure enough, the neighbor was the culprit.

Before anyone gets huffy, NO I don't think what he did was right, it
was terrible, of course. But I do know that a dog that barks
incessantly can make you temporarily insane. It's maddening. All
the letters written about it are condemning (correctly) the neighbor,
no one is saying, why do the other people have a dog and just leave
it in the yard to irritate the entire neighborhood. I think that's
abuse.
