Hi everyone,
A while back this recipe was posted by one of the regulars at rec.food.cooking, I thought I had saved it,and put it in a safe place, like a disc, but I guess not. If anyone has saved it, could you please re-post it. thanks Harriet & critters (J J the world famous jack russell terrior who is guarding his treat; P K the lady manx who is outside sitting in "her flowerpot"...watching.) |

Dimitri posted this, and mentioned that the restaurant gives the recipe freely to anybody who asks for it: 1 1/2 cups + 2 tablespoons Mayonnaise 6 tablespoons + 1 teaspoon sugar 3 Tablespoons + 1/2 teaspoon wine vinegar 3/4 cup + 1 tablespoon oil 1/3 teaspoon each Garlic, onion, mustard and celery powders Dash black pepper 1 Tablespoon + 2 teaspoons lemon juice 3/4 cup + 1 tablespoon half and half 1/2 teaspoon salt 2 heads cabbage, very finely shredded Blend together the mayonnaise, sugar, vinegar and oil, add the spice powders pepper, lemon juice, half and half and salt. Stir until smooth Pour over the cabbage in a large bowl and toss until the cabbage is well coated - If wanted , use only 1/2 the dressing to a head of cabbage and save the remaining dressing to dress fruit salad or other salads. The dressing keeps well, tightly covered in the refrigerator for several days. Makes about 1 Qt. of dressing. Bob |

There's a trick to Googling when you know you're looking for something which was posted in rec.food.cooking. Go to google.com, then click on the "Groups" link above the searchbar. When you're in the "Google Groups" area, enter "group:rec.food.cooking" then the rest of your search. In this particular case, my search was group:rec.food.cooking "cole slaw" pantry Dimitri's post was the third one down. I should note that not EVERY post will be there; some people have the "No Archive" flag set, which means that those posts won't be saved by Google. Bob |
