Eggplant

Can it eaten raw?

Will it bake in my toaster oven well?

Thank you, Chris

Not many people like it that way. Raw eggplant reminds me of Styrofoam.

Slice, rub with olive oil, grill until tender.

Don't forget the salting. In my experience good quality eggplant does not
need salting to draw out the bitterness but it does help the texture by
drawing off a lot of the water. Sprinkle both sides of 1/2 to 1" slices with
salt and let sit on a rack for 1-3 hours. Rinse to remove salt then pat dry
with paper towels.

Learnt from an erstwhile colleague recently...

For quick eggplant snack: select a nice firm fruit of appropriate size
for your appetite; trim off the calyx bits and wash; stick a knife
into it in a few places, then microwave for about three minutes
(depending on size, MW power, and similar variables); cut in half
lengthways and apply plenty of fresh pepper, then cool until
approachable. Scoop out with a spoon to eat.

Cheers, Phred.

You wish you could afford AOL, rather than THEFT OF SERVICES FROM YOUR
EMPLOYER. I could easily munge my ISP too if it embarrased me like yours does
you.

munge my isp? if i wanted to munge my isp i'd post through an anonymous
source. ever heard of a header? usenet along with irc make up the anus
and the rectum of the internet. i can't imagine why anyone would want to
post their email address here. spam fodder for sure. but i wouldn't
expect an aol'er like you to understand the more advanced concepts like
privacy.

I read your header, that's how I knew you posted through your employer's
infoave network... you don't have your own ISP... THIEF!

maybe a lesson in header reading is in your future. i'm not at work. i'm
at home. and i don't work for infoave.net or my isp, which by the way,
leases their network from infoave. of course with the internet savvy
you've gleaned from being an aol user, i wouldn't expect you to know or
understand.

Let me take a stab -- you're using Comporium.net, right? It's been
a loooong time since I've done any Usenet detective work...

Yay, I haven't lost my touch! Although with the way people personalize
their headers these days, it can be hard to know what's accurate...
