converting measurements

Hi all

I'm writing some calories tracking software and need some help with
weights/measures. I need to be able to express different measures (US
versions) in grams and ml, here are the conversions I have so far :

dry measures:

kilo = 1000 g
oz = 28.35 g
lb = 453.6 g
teaspoon = 4.93 g
tblspoon =14.79 g

fluid measures:

teaspoon = 4.93 ml
tblspoon = 14.79 ml
floz = 29.57 ml
cup = 237 ml
pint = 473 ml

do these look about right? I had to guestimate the teaspoon and tblspoon
values for dry measures. The rest came from onlineconversion.com

any input appreciated
mark

The last two are only true if you are measuring water.
It's basically impossible to place a weight/mass equivalent on a fluid
measure unit, e.g., a teaspoon of honey weighs ~8 grams while the same
teaspoon of ground sage weighs ~0.8 grams

Everything else looks fine.

Ross.

There is a product made by Seiko that converts volumes (milliliter to
ounces), and weights (ounces to grams), it is called the Kitchen Whiz SII
(I'm not making this up...). I purchased it many years ago and find it
useful because it also converts for portion sizes in recipes.

You might have a little problem with these equivalents, volume to
weight.

For example, a tablespoon of lead shot would weigh a bit more than a
tablespoon of flour!

Keep searching...there are better equivalents tables out there.

And...a lot of times, it isn't important. If you need a tablespoon of
baking powder, it really doesn't matter what it weighs.
