Here in Italy that kind of card has only started to spread in the last 2
years, and the result is? My GF's ATM card has the damn chip and so 3/4 of
the shops can't read her card because they have old readers who can't read
the chip. LOL
Come to Italy, you'll be fine ;)

Had to pick up a new credit card a week or two ago (because the old one
was due to expire) and Lo and Behold the new one has one of these
new-fangled chips in it. Fortunately it also has a 'strip' on it too,
and the blurb that came with it states, "If the retailer does not have
a chip-card reader, the transaction will be processed in the same way
as it has always been done..."

Heh. We shall see... I only use my credit card occasionally - and most
of the supermarkets I shop in only seem to have those 'swipe' thingies
(I usually use my debit card which is a 'swipe only' one).

I wish you it is really so with that card, my GF can't use her chip+strip
card in 3 stores out of 4 due to the chip blocking all, maybe they work
differently.

I haven't had any trouble with mine. It goes seamlessly from credit
card to ATM card. I can choose to use the PIN or to sign. Have used it
in Australia, Sweden, several African countries and several Asian
countries.

Can also use Expresspay for purchases under $35.

So basically this is the card that can be either debit or credit?
When you press debit it asks for a PIN, when you press credit you use
it like any other credit card? That's been around for years.

Sorry, Tutor - I didn't watch the YouTube yet, I'm composing offline
now and I don't think the connection is fast enough to support video

Yes can use it as a debit or credit card, but no I do not have to sign
when using credit. I can choose PIN or sign. I always use PIN.
